🇫🇷🇩🇪 France and Germany are lending €300 million to support the reform of essential services in South Africa’s eight largest cities.
The funding, provided through AFD - Agence Française de Développement and KfW Development Bank, will support South Africa’s Metro Trading Services Reform programme.

It will help improve services used by more than 22 million residents:

⚡ Electricity
💧 Water and sanitation
♻️ Waste management

The programme aims to improve how these services are managed, increase investment in infrastructure and reduce outages and backlogs.

It will also contribute to the municipal component of South Africa’s Just Energy Transition Investment Plan, helping cities modernise their electricity networks and attract further public and private investment.

A major step towards more reliable services and stronger, more sustainable cities. 🇿🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪
