The OBSID Composting Site is now open! 🌱
Located on Oak Street, the site introduces a simple bucket exchange system: collect a composting bucket, fill it with food and organic waste at home or work, and return it in exchange for a clean one. No complicated setup — just an easy, practical way to make a real environmental difference.
“This project is about making sustainability practical and achievable for our community,” says Matt Tyrrell. “The bucket exchange system is designed to fit into people’s daily lives, making it easier to reduce waste and be part of a shared environmental solution.”
By diverting organic waste away from landfill — where it contributes to greenhouse gas emissions — the composting site will help transform food scraps into nutrient-rich compost for local greening projects, community gardens, and public spaces.
The site will be run in collaboration with local partners, The Plant Shop, and supported by the OBSID cleaning and greening team, with full guidelines and participation details shared via OBSID channels.
A small daily action. A big environmental impact 🌍
