⚠️ WATER SUPPLY UPDATE – GREENBUSHES & COLLEEN GLEN ⚠️
29 May 2026 | 21h10

Greenbushes & Colleen Glen residents are advised that water disruptions may be experienced due to a power outage at the Elandsjagt Water Treatment Works.

Unfortunately, power has not yet been restored and Eskom is currently attending to the fault.

As a result of the prolonged outage, reservoir levels across the system have continued to drop throughout the day.

Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly and only for essential purposes while the issue is being resolved.

UPDATE: BLUE HORIZON BAY WASTE TRANSFER SITE
29 May 2026

A meeting was held today regarding the ongoing challenges at the waste container transfer site.

Municipal officials confirmed that the Municipality’s two trucks previously used for servicing the outlying areas have been scrapped. The contractor currently assisting was appointed before these trucks were scrapped, and the original contract did not include the outlying areas such as Blue Horizon Bay, Seaview and Fitchetts Corner.

Although the City has requested the contractor to also service these areas, this falls outside of the contractor’s original scope of work. This has contributed to the ongoing delays, as the contractor is already operating at full capacity to fulfil the existing contract obligations while also trying to assist the outlying areas.

Officials advised that the Municipality is currently busy with a new contract specifically aimed at covering these outlying areas. Once implemented, it is expected to improve the situation significantly. No specific timeframe was provided, but the process could still take three months or longer.

A follow-up meeting will also be arranged with the relevant Environmental Health / Parks Department to request an additional container specifically for tree branches and garden refuse. This should help reduce pressure on the existing containers, especially considering that much of this work is currently being done by the Conservancy instead of the Parks Department.

We will continue engaging with the Municipality and provide residents with further updates as they become available.
