๐จ PASSPORT 360 AT Valterra Platinum MINE MUST END!
STATEMENT BY VICTOR MOKONYANE
President of OTM & Mayoral Candidate for Mogalakwena Local Municipality
๐ข MOGALAKWENA โ THE TIME FOR EXCUSES IS OVER!
For too long, the people of Mogalakwena have raised serious concerns about access to employment, procurement, local business opportunities and the distribution of economic benefits connected to our mining industry.
Our communities are surrounded by enormous mineral wealth, yet many local families remain unemployed, struggling with poverty and without meaningful economic opportunities.
OTM Political Party believes the people deserve answers.
There are serious allegations and concerns circulating in our communities regarding the involvement of companies allegedly linked to traditional leadership structures, including allegations of fronting, where local people and businesses primarily owned by white stakeholders, may allegedly be used as directors, shareholders or names on companies while the real beneficiaries may be others.
There are also allegations that certain companies connected to individuals associated with traditional leadership structures may be benefiting from opportunities linked to Valterra Platinum, while ordinary community members remain excluded from meaningful economic participation.
These allegations must not simply be ignored. They must be independently investigated.
Where evidence exists, the appropriate authorities must follow the money, examine company ownership and beneficial interests, scrutinise procurement and subcontracting arrangements, and determine whether any laws, policies or contractual obligations have been breached.
Let us be clear:
โ ๏ธ OTM is not declaring anyone guilty without evidence.
โ ๏ธ OTM is demanding transparency and proper investigation.
โ ๏ธ If wrongdoing is established, there must be consequences.
๐ WE WANT ANSWERS
Who owns the companies receiving opportunities? Who are the actual beneficial owners? Who is benefiting from mining-related contracts and subcontracting? Are local people genuinely empowered, or are some merely being used as names on paper? Are procurement processes transparent and fair?
Are community economic empowerment commitments actually reaching ordinary residents?
Are Social and Labour Plan commitments producing measurable benefits for the people of Mogalakwena?
And most importantly:
WHY ARE OUR PEOPLE STILL UNEMPLOYED WHILE BILLIONS OF RANDS MOVE THROUGH THE LOCAL MINING ECONOMY?
OTM Political Party is taking a clear position:
PASSPORT 360 MUST END.
Our communities should not have to navigate an opaque system to access employment opportunities in their own area. The mineral wealth of Mogalakwena must translate into jobs, skills, businesses, infrastructure and genuine opportunities for local people.
No individual, company or institution should be above investigation.
Mogalakwena deserves a system where opportunities are based on fairness, transparency and merit, not connections, secrecy or political influence.
The era of excuses must end.
The era of accountability must begin.
๐จ PASSPORT 360 MUST END!
โ๏ธ THE SLP MUST DELIVER!
๐ THE MONEY MUST BE FOLLOWED!
โ๏ธ CREDIBLE ALLEGATIONS MUST BE INVESTIGATED!
๐ฅ THE PEOPLE OF MOGALAKWENA MUST BENEFIT FROM THE WEALTH OF MOGALAKWENA!
