Join us for this Political School & Book Presentation on: “All In – A Revolutionary Theory to Stop Climate Collapse”
with Sinan Eden (Portugal), co-author

The climate crisis lays bare what many already know: capitalism is the cause — and is fundamentally incapable of putting forward solutions. But if the system must be dismantled, what kind of strategy and organisation can make that possible within the shrinking window we face?

This political school invites comrades into a collective engagement with the All In book — which offers revolutionary theory and an organisers toolkit that argues for rupture, coordination, and confrontation with capital. Presented by one of its authors, we are holding this political school as a space to build our internationalism, debate, interrogate, and reflect on the conditions of our historical moment and what it will actually take to win.

WASP and SYM stand in full solidarity with the revolutionaries unjustly arrested in Pakistan, including Ehsan Ali of the Awami Action Committee and the Inqalabi Communist Party. These comrades are being persecuted for their tireless struggle for land rights, political autonomy, and the dignity of the working class in Gilgit-Baltistan. We join the international call demanding their immediate and unconditional release and condemn the brutal repression faced by leftists under Pakistan’s authoritarian capitalist regime.

As part of the energy embargo campaign last year, WASP EC member, Cde Gift Radebe, delivered his powerful poem on the steps of Glencore’s HQ in Johannesburg.

Tomorrow we rejoin the united front taking action globally against Glencore to suffocate its support for Israel’s genocidal machinery and its destruction and exploitation of communities across the global South.

This May Day, we stand in struggle and solidarity with workers across the world resisting exploitation, oppression, and austerity.

May Day is not a holiday—it is a day of rebellion. It commemorates the Haymarket martyrs, workers executed in 1886 in Chicago for demanding an eight-hour workday. They died fighting the same capitalist system that we confront today. From the mines of the DRC to the factories of China, from the farms of Mpumalanga to the gig economy of Gauteng, working-class people still endure brutal conditions so that a small elite can live in obscene luxury.

Today, global capitalism is in terminal crisis. Its contradictions grow sharper every day. Climate collapse, mass unemployment, war, genocide, pandemics, and inequality expose a system that is entirely incapable and uninterested in meeting the needs of humanity or the planet. In country after country, the ruling class clings to profit through deregulation, privatisation, and repression. South Africa is no exception.

The demands of the working class—to defeat the Labour Amendments Bill, to reverse austerity, to secure jobs, wages, services and dignity—cannot be realised under capitalism. Our struggles must be linked to a socialist programme that unites the working class in every major theatre of struggle behind a common vision for political and economic power in the hands of the majority. ✊

FREEDOM FOR THE FEW, HUNGER AND REPRESSION FOR THE MANY: ONLY REVOLUTION WILL LIBERATE THE WORKING CLASS

Today marks 31 years since the first democratic elections of 1994 – an historic achievement wrenched from the blood, sweat, and sacrifice of the black working class. Yet, three decades later, the promises of freedom, dignity, and equality have been shattered by the ruthless advance of capitalism. What millions fought and died for has been betrayed by a system that replaced apartheid with exploitation dressed in democratic robes.

This Freedom Day, we declare openly: There is no real freedom under capitalism. We owe this system nothing but its overthrow. ✊

The Workers & Socialist Party (WASP) and its youth banner, The Socialist Youth Movement (SYM) stand in full solidarity with all those who have taken to the streets across South Africa in response to the brutal r**e of seven-year-old Cwecwe allegedly by her school principle in the Eastern Cape.

This monstrous crime is not an isolated incident, it is the inevitable product of a system built on patriarchal violence, colonial oppression, and capitalist exploitation. The rage, grief, and determination of the masses reflect a society that has had enough of the unrelenting scourge of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) that continues to devastate women, children, the LGBTQIA+ community and the most vulnerable among us.

Students protest every year because their material conditions demand it, reminding us that the struggle
for free, quality, decolonised education is not an isolated demand- it is part of the broader working-class struggle against capitalist exploitation and neoliberal austerity. The exclusion and hardship experienced by black working-class students is a direct result of the capitalist system, which works to entrench inequality and reproduce generational poverty in pursuit of ever higher profit margins for a few.

As with each passing year, this moment demands a united front- a coordinated movement of students, workers, communities and all progressive forces to confront the state directly. Our fight is not just against university management, it is against the capitalist state that underfunds education while enriching the
ruling elite.

No campus should fight its battle in isolation. We give of our solidarity to all students on the front lines and call on all students, student organisations, trade unions, and working-class formations to unite behind a clear and uncompromised set of demands for the overthrow of capitalism and its racist and exclusionary education system ✊

Workers and Socialist Party and Socialist Youth Movement Statement on the Stilfontein Massacre
17 January 2025

The Workers and Socialist Party (WASP) and its youth league, the Socialist Youth Movement (SYM),
condemn in the strongest possible terms the heinous atrocities which have unfolded at Stilfontein’s Shaft
11. This campaign of systematic starvation, torture, and murder, perpetrated under the guise of “Operation Vala Umgodi,“ represents a dark and shameful chapter in South Africa’s history, perhaps eclipsing even the horrors of Marikana.

On Tuesday we joined hundreds of comrades from various community based civic organisations in Sandton, to take the fight to the African Energy Chamber via the representatives of fossil fuel imperialism, war, genocide & destruction. Including; the home base of Paramount Group’s Ivor Ichikowitz, the U.S Consulate & the headquarters of Sasol.

Working class communities are uniting to reject the unholy alliance between finance capital, the fossil fuel industry and African governments and to draw out the links between militarism, war, imperialism and the crisis of climate collapse and its associated socio-economic crises in frontline communities.
