MANDENI MUNICIPALITY SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS WORLD OF WORK EXHIBITION
20 June 2026
Unemployed individuals and graduates from all 18 wards of Mandeni Municipality gathered at Sibusisiwe Hall on Friday, 19 June 2026, to attend the highly anticipated World of Work Exhibition, an initiative aimed at empowering young job seekers and strengthening pathways to employment.
The event, which forms part of the municipality’s ongoing youth development programme, attracted a wide range of stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. Its primary objective was to create a platform for networking, allowing participants to engage directly with potential employers, training institutions, and support organisations.
The Purpose of the Event was outlined by, Youth Manager, Mr Ngcebo Mazibuko, who emphasised the importance of collaboration between job seekers and industry stakeholders in tackling unemployment. Furthermore, he highlighted the municipality’s commitment to youth empowerment and economic development.
A key feature of the exhibition was two panel discussions involving representatives from organisations such as the Department of Labour, Sappi, ESKOM, Old Mutual, HWSETA, NYDA, SAPS, and the IEC. These sessions provided valuable insights on employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, funding options, learnerships, and internships.
Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and interact directly with panel members on critical issues affecting youth employment.
In addition, a dedicated career development session led by Sthokozile Zulu equipped attendees with practical skills, including CV writing and interview preparation, aimed at improving their chances of securing employment.
The programme concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks, followed by an open exhibition and networking session. This segment allowed attendees to connect with stakeholders, explore available opportunities, and establish meaningful professional relationships.
