The DYP Selaelo Art Centre collaborated with Gauteng Community Art Centres Federation (GCACF) and the Gauteng Film Commissioner (GFC) to showcase local films in our community! 🎬 We had 85 filmmakers and a large audience who came through to experience the magic of local film.

This was an audience development project, giving our community a taste of what’s to come as we work towards fundraising for the Art Centre. And the best part? Entry was FREE!

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported local film.

We’re collecting sports equipment donations for our soccer and netball teams, as well as for our fundraiser happening on the 21st of March. All funds raised will go towards school holiday activities that keep our youth off the streets and give them a safe place to belong.

This is the story of Kgoleng Ratisani — a true DYP success story 💚
He started his soccer journey at just 7 years old at DYP Grass Roots Football.

Today, he’s living the dream as a professional footballer at Sekhukhune FC.
Kgoleng has proudly represented South Africa U19 at the CAF Tournament, bringing home GOLD 🥇🇿🇦
And last year, he represented the nation again at the U20 World Cup in Chile 🌟

Back to school the right way 📚💙

On reopening day, our Diepsloot Youth Programme netball girls chose to come together as a team to cover their books and build each other up. We believe netball builds champions on the court, but education builds champions for life.

We are proud to support our girls in taking both their sport and their studies seriously.

🌱 From seedlings to healing spaces 🌱

We’re deeply grateful to Discovery South Africa for the seedlings donated to Diepsloot Youth Programme (DYP) in partnership with Marshmallow Rainbow. These seedlings are already making a real impact.

After a community clean-up at the OR Tambo Clinic area — previously used as a dumping site — the land was restored into a clean, safe, and dignified space. This allowed seedlings to be planted in prepared garden beds, with more planting now underway. One beneficiary has even begun a backyard garden of their own.

These gardens will directly support food security and healing programmes, particularly for GBV-surviving beneficiaries who use this space. A powerful reminder that when we care for the land, we also care for people. 🌿

Thank you for helping us grow hope, nourishment, and dignity in our community.

The Diepsloot Youth Programme Art Department is calling all young creatives to audition and join our creative programmes at Selaelo Chuene Art Center.
