IDP & BUDGET PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETINGS

ON WASTE MANAGEMENT:

-There are 5 compactors hired in March 2024
- The overall fleet availability for the removal of illegal dumping is 20%
- Fleet availability is very low with the average of 5 compactors from July to December 2024, and only 3 from January March 2024
- R79 million of Manucipality Infrustructure Grant to be prioritised to buy fleet for waste management to address the backlog.

Emfuleni Local Municipality total budget is R8.2 Billion.

Unemployment rate in the area of Emfuleni is 56.2%, with 297 910 total households.

The proposed collection rate for the draft budget is 79%.

This means that an amount of R4,142B must be paid by consumers for the draft budget to realise and for all projects in the draft to be executed successfully. As the Municipality we therefore plead that consumers should pay for the services which have been consumed.

PROPOSED INCREASE FOR 2024/2025 Annual Budget:

- Property Rates: 4.9%
- Water: 5.9%
- Sanitation 4.9%
- Electricity : 10.74% (this tariff is subject to the approval of our tariff application by NERSA)
- Refuse Removal 4.9%
