South African Commonwealth Movement

South African Commonwealth Movement We are the only political organization in South Africa with a clearly articulated commonwealth agend They leave more people living in fear and fewer in hope.

Estimates as at 2916 showed that just three men in RSA own the same wealth as the poorest half of South Africa. As growth benefits the richest, the rest of society – especially the poorest – suffers. The very design of our economy and the principles of our economics have taken us to this extreme, unsustainable and unjust point. However, our considered belief is that our econom

y can be transformed to bring a stop to all excessive rewarding of the privileged and to start working for all people. To achieve this transformation we need a visionary government and businesses that work not only in the interests of politicians, shareholders, workers and producers but also for the needs of the poor. That being said, in October of 2016 a group of concerned unemployed workers discreetly met in Palm Springs, Vereeniging to pray for ways to combat unemployment, poverty and economic inequality in South Africa. After a prayerful consideration of the possible solutions, the meeting resolved to start a political organisation based on the principles of *Commonwealth and human rights, the chief aims of which is to;

1. Make communities stronger through collective action and support,

2. Pursue the activities of a political movement with a view to articulating and aggregating the needs of the poor and unemployed workers to legally enjoy in full the riches and wealth of this country just as those who earn their living through work. It is our conviction that the country’s tax laws and social security programs should be geared towards eradicating poverty, unemployment and inequality because left unchecked, these things threatens to further pull our societies apart. They increase crime and insecurity, and undermines the world’s fight to end poverty. Our vision is to help South Africa become strong through opening up the country's economic to everyone. Poor households and unemployed workers must be able to do more than survive with handouts; they must earn a living by work and where employment options do not exist receive a guaranteed basic income that allows them to prosper in a dignified manner. Senior citizens should receive the social security due them without ever again being expected to use this to support their children and grandchildren or become a burden to their children. As you can see, we are excited at the possibility of serving the people of this great nation. But before we can serve we must conduct very aggressive campaigns. Our opponents are quite set in the country’s political system. The key ones have been around for over 27 long years. We believe that through your support and involvement with us, that together we can step forward and offer the voters of this great nation a new choice. To be successful in this endeavor it will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots organization, the one that is led by untainted fresh leaders who given the state of our politics can encourage voters to step forward with our founders in a united volunteer effort.. With thousands of brochures to purchase, rent office space, hundreds of yard signs to order, thousands of campaign T-shirts and caps to purchase, scores of radio ads to place, and nine provinces to cover, we will need help. We are turning to individuals and local businesses whose growth potential in RSA is being affected by the scourge of poverty and unemployment and humbly invite you or your organization to get involved in our campaign for mutual benefit and to help make a difference. Your early contribution, made payable to “ The South African Commonwealth Movement” will give our next founding meeting and race a tremendous boost right out of the starting block. Your generous gift will help our organization raise the vital “early seed money” we need to successfully reach every voter in South Africa
