The Catherine Robson Child and Youth Care Centre is situated in 1 Joubert Street, Vereeniging. This home was established during the 1950s to take in children in need of care and to take care of them. The Children’s Home provides a home for approximately 76 children between ages 4 and 18 years. The children link with local schools such as the Laerskool Handhawer, Hoërskool Gimnasium, Eureka and Kru

gerlaan School. The children’s normal needs are provided for, namely clothing, well-balanced meals, warm beds and recreation facilities such as television, a swimming pool and a well-equipped playground. Spiritually the children are encouraged to maintain a personal trusting relationship with the Lord Jesus. Group work and personal discussions are presented with the children by the social worker to address the heartache of the past and acquire new life skills. All the children in the children’s home are assigned to the care of the Children’s Home by means of a court order, amongst others due to poverty at their parental home, child neglect and maltreatment, death of parents and inability of parents to fulfill their obligations towards their children. The members of staff constantly strive to create a normal homely warm and loving environment for the children so that they can develop into balanced young adults. The staff attempt to create a feeling of self-worth and pride in spite of the negative backgrounds. Several congregations, individuals and businesses of the community are proud to be associated with the Children’s Home. Interested new friends of the Children’s Home are invited to visit us and become involved in this beautiful institution of the community. The need for especially weekend and holiday parents is always huge; hence the invitation to become involved and to make a difference in a child’s life.

🩵 Baie, baie dankie, Touching Lives Project! 💙

Ons kinders se gesiggies het behoorlik opgehelder toe elkeen sy eie warm slaapklere ontvang het. Die opgewondenheid was aansteeklik, en die beste deel was dat almal sommer daardie selfde aand met trots hul nuwe pajamas aangetrek en daarin gaan slaap het. 🥹❤️

Baie dankie dat julle nie net aan ons kinders gedink het nie, maar ook ons personeel bederf het met warm mussies. Julle vriendelikheid het hulle diep geraak, want hulle het glad nie verwag om ook so spesiaal behandel te word nie. 🩵

Sulke dade van liefde en omgee maak 'n wêreld se verskil. Julle het nie net warm klere geskenk nie – julle het warmte, vreugde en die gevoel gegee dat iemand omgee.

Van elke kind en elke personeellid by Catherine Robson kinder Huis: Baie, baie dankie! Julle word opreg waardeer, en ons sal hierdie mooi gebaar lank onthou. 💙

💙💛 A Mandela Day We Will Never Forget 💛💙

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude after what has truly been one of the most memorable Mandela Days in the history of Catherine Robson Children's Home.

A very special thank you to Structa Training Structa Training Institute, who dedicated five months of planning, coordinating, and hard work to make this dream a reality. Their team repainted two of our four houses, gave our facilities a much-needed deep clean, transformed our main living room with fresh paint, and blessed us with brandnew couches and beautiful curtains. They also brought together incredible companies and volunteers to create a fun filled Mandela Day where our children enjoyed sports, face painting, laughter, and quality time with caring hearts.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to every organisation that partnered to make this day so special:

GIVE. Such a simple word, yet one that changes lives.

A heartfelt thank you to River Square for choosing to GIVE—giving your time, giving hope, giving love, giving opportunities, and reminding our children that they are seen, valued, and deeply cared for.

Thank you for teaching our children a new skill by planting seeds and plants together. Just like those tiny seeds, you are planting hope, confidence, and dreams that will continue to grow for years to come. 🌱

You also spoiled them with a meal at a restaurant something that happens very rarely for our children. The smiles, excitement, and memories you created are gifts they will treasure.

Thank you for always thinking of our children and for becoming part of our village. Your kindness isn't limited to 67 minutes on Mandela Day. You continue to GIVE throughout the year, and that is what truly changes lives.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we are so grateful that River Square is part of ours.

There's always a first time for everything, and for many of our children, their very first visit to Gold Reef City became a dream come true! ❤️

The excitement, laughter, happy screams, and smiles on their faces were absolutely priceless. Watching them make unforgettable memories together is something we will treasure forever. It was a day filled with joy, adventure, and moments they'll be talking about for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Murray Oberholster and an anonymous donor for blessing the children of Catherine Robson Children's Home with brand-new clothing and shoes. A big thanks to Ronel and Hannes for sorting through the clothes to make sure that all our kids received something ♥️

The smiles, excitement, and joy on our children's faces said it all. Your generosity is more than just a gift it is a reminder to our children that they are loved, valued, and cared for.

Wrapped in Love ❤️

Elke kind by ons het ’n persoonlike gehekelde of gebreide kombers ontvang, met hul naam daarop. Soveel liefde, tyd en gebede is in elke steek van hierdie komberse ingeweef, en elke kombers is so uniek soos elkeen van ons kosbare kinders.

Baie dankie aan elke persoon wat ’n bydrae gemaak het, julle het nie net komberse gegee nie, maar warmte, liefde en ’n gevoel van behoort.

Ons kinders voel ekstra geliefd nadat hulle die spesiale boodskap agter hul persoonlike kombers gehoor het. Dankie dat julle deel is van ons dorp wat help om kinders veilig, warm en geliefd te laat voel. 💙
