We are struggling to find the words… but we need to share what has happened at Prime Crew.

The floods have left devastation in our wake.

Places that once felt safe, familiar, and full of life are now unrecognizable. If you’ve ever visited us, you’ll remember the concrete bridge that led to the semi-wilds, that bridge is gone. Completely washed away, as if it never existed.

The river walk area where so many gentle, trusting moments were shared with the juveniles has been taken too.

The water that came down was not just heavy — it was violent and unforgiving.

The pump, the lifeline that supplied water to the semi-wilds, has disappeared. We had only just replaced it on the 18th of April, hoping to restore normality after the previous one failed. Now, it’s gone… along with so much more.

The semi-wilds are severely damaged. Right now, the only way we can reach the animals is by walking through the river, carrying food by hand — step by step, trying to bring some sense of care back into chaos.

Our border fence has collapsed, leaving the animals vulnerable and exposed.

The two energisers we had just bought at the end of March didn’t stand a chance against the force of this disaster.

But the hardest part… the part that truly breaks us… is the loss.
We lost three of the baboons.
Three lives. Three personalities. Three souls who were part of our family.

In the video, you’ll see one of the most heartbreaking moments — a reminder that this isn’t just damage to land or equipment… this is loss that cuts deep.

We cannot begin to explain the power of the water that came through here. It took more than structures — it took pieces of our hearts with it.

Right now, we are exhausted, grieving, and overwhelmed. But we are still here. And so are the animals who need us more than ever.

Bobby came into our care as an ex-pet, beginning his journey back to the life he truly deserves. Sadly, while at our facility, he experienced a traumatic incident involving a dispersing male baboon. In the wild, this behavior is known as infanticide — where males will try to kill young babies. Bobby became a victim of this natural instinct, and his little leg was severely mangled in the attack.
What followed was a long and difficult healing journey. There were moments of uncertainty, but Bobby showed nothing but strength and determination every single day.
Today, we are so relieved to share that he is almost fully recovered 🙏 And true to baboon nature, Bobby carries on as if nothing ever happened. These incredible animals have an amazing ability to adapt — even in cases of missing or damaged limbs — and we are confident that this injury will not affect his rehabilitation or eventual release back into the wild.
However, his recovery has come at a significant cost. The medical care, treatments, and time needed to get Bobby to where he is today have placed a heavy financial strain on us.
We are reaching out to ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering Bobby’s medical expenses and helping us continue to give animals like him a second chance at life.

It is with the heaviest hearts that we share that Athena has grown her angel wings and crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈
We fought so hard for her. Every possible effort was made, every chance was given, and she showed nothing but strength and determination through it all. Sadly, despite everything, there was no progress, and we had to let her go with love and dignity.
Athena, you were so deeply loved. Your courage touched us all, and your spirit will never be forgotten. Run free, beautiful girl, free from pain and suffering.
Thank you to everyone who supported her journey and kept her in your thoughts.
