THE ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS STATEMENT ON ADVERTISED POST OF SERVICE DELIVERY OFFICER
Monday, 07 October 2024
The recent allegations regarding the recruitment process for the Service Delivery Officer position are deeply troubling and are raising serious questions about the integrity of Nala Local Municipality's Administration.
We have noted allegations that the selection of a candidate for this position has already been predetermined, casting a shadow of unfairness and bias over the entire process. This does not only undermines the principles of fairness and equal opportunity but also erodes public trust in the administration's ability to carry out its duties impartially.
It should also be stated here that, the very same administration failed to produce a comprehensive list of all vacant posts in the municipality to the Corporate Services Portfolio Committee, chaired by EFF Councillor I Mokotedi, nothing but an outright defiance of transparency and officials accountability.
This negligence is nothing short of a direct affront to the oversight responsibilities of the council appointed committee and, by extent, an insult to the unemployed residents of Nala. It reflects a pattern of disregard for democratic processes and stands as a stark "middle finger" directed to the community and voters who voted to be represented in that council.
It is constitutional right of people of Nala to have confidence in all recruitment practices and a guarantee that all positions are filled based on merit and fairness not on membership card caring or a colour of a T-shirt.
The Economic Freedom Fighters is monitoring this process closely and it will ensure that the responsible parties are held accountable if these claims are substantiated and the administration will be held accountable for its refusal to produce the required list of all vacant posts, a clear transgression that cannot go unanswered.
