YOUTH DAY 2026 | SERVICE MOVEMENT FOR METSIMAHOLO

Today we honour the youth of 1976, whose courage gave South Africa freedom, dignity and democracy.

As the youth of today, our responsibility is to turn that freedom into service, development, opportunity and progress for all.

As we prepare for the Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026 and the Voter Registration Weekend on 20–21 June 2026, we call on young people and first-time voters to stand up and take part.

STRATEGY SESSION SUCCESSFULLY HELD

Yesterday, 13 June 2026, the Service Movement for Metsimaholo held a successful strategy session to map a clear way forward for the movement.

The session focused on strengthening our community work, sharpening our programme of action, and ensuring that SMM remains grounded in the real issues affecting the people of Metsimaholo.

As a movement, we reaffirmed our commitment to building local power through practical service, disciplined organising, and direct engagement with communities across all areas of our municipality.

VAALPARK TAXI RANK PROGRAMME: PHASE 2

Today we continued with Phase 2 of the Vaalpark Taxi Rank Programme, focusing on the public toilet facilities used daily by commuters, workers, drivers and community members.

After securing the facility in Phase 1 to prevent further vandalism, our team moved to the next stage of repairs, cleaning, plumbing work and restoring basic dignity to this important public space.

The condition of these toilets shows the serious neglect that our people are forced to face every day. No community should be expected to use unsafe, dirty and broken facilities.

This programme is about practical action. We are not only pointing out the problem, we are working to fix it step by step.
