Today, Provincial Chairmen of the United Party for National Development (UPND) drawn from all ten provinces of Zambia addressed the press in Lusaka.
During the press conference, the Chairmen called on Zambians to put political differences and past conflicts behind us and concentrate on economic development aimed at improving people’s lives.
They stressed that His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema has faced various challenges during his political journey but has remained resolute and committed to uniting the country.
The Chairmen emphasized that life is in God’s hands. They noted that the Head of State has gone through a lot, including several assassination attempts against him while in opposition on the Copperbelt.
_“All that is now water under the bridge. Let us now think about our country,”_ they said.
They further warned individuals in the habit of insulting the Head of State that this must stop with immediate effect.
The Chairmen underscored that attempts to divide Zambians on tribal and political lines have failed in past elections. Citizens are more interested in development than political divisions.
They stated that President Hichilema’s focus is economic growth, which will ultimately address the cost of living for all citizens.
They further noted that Copperbelt Province has received a lion’s share of development under the UPND administration in areas of education, road infrastructure, revival of the mining sector, health, and several other sectors.
The Provincial Chairmen urged all Zambians, regardless of political affiliation, church, tradition, or creed, to unite behind President Hakainde Hichilema as he begins his second term, running until 2031.
