CHILILABOMBWE CDF AMBULANCE COMMISSIONED
Chililabombwe, 5th June 2026
Chililabombwe District Commissioner (DC), Mr. Kelly Jibinga, has today 5th June 2026 commissioned a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) ambulance for Chililabombwe Constituency during a handover ceremony held at the Civic Centre.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Jibinga expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, for Government's decision to provide ambulances to constituencies through the Constituency Development Fund.
He said the initiative will help address challenges related to the transportation of patients and improve access to healthcare services.
The District Commissioner noted that the ambulance has come at the right time, as it will bring health services closer to the people of Chililabombwe and improve emergency response within the district.
Mr. Jibinga further stated that through the Constituency Development Fund, several maternity annexes have been constructed across the district and the new ambulance is another important milestone in strengthening healthcare service delivery.
And Chililabombwe Constituency Development Fund Committee Chairperson, Pastor Steven Kase, commended the Republican President for increasing the CDF allocation which has contributed to developmental projects and improved service delivery in the district.
Meanwhile, Chililabombwe Municipal Council Town Clerk, Mrs. Shilla Songolo, disclosed that the ambulance was procured at a total cost of K2.7 million.
She thanked all stakeholders for their support towards the development of the district and urged Hospital Staff to ensure proper care and maintenance of the Ambulance to guarantee its longevity and effectiveness.
In a vote of thanks, Chililabombwe District Health Director, Dr. Shamilando Chembo, welcomed the addition of the new ambulance, stating that it will greatly reduce challenges associated with transporting critically ill patients.
Dr. Chembo explained that before the arrival of the new ambulance, the district had only one operational ambulance, a situation that made it difficult to adequately respond to the increasing number of referrals and medical emergencies.
He thanked Government for providing the modern ambulance, which is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment that will enhance emergency healthcare services in the district.
