PRESS STATEMENT
Date: 16th June 2026.
KMTCA REFUTES FALSE REPORTS OF CHANGE OF DATE FOR THE 2026 MALAILA TRADITIONAL CEREMONY
The K***a Malaila Traditional Ceremony Association (KMTCA) wishes to strongly refute and condemn the spread of misleading and unfounded statements circulating on various platforms suggesting that the date for this year's Malaila Traditional Ceremony has been changed.
KMTCA is deeply concerned by individuals who are deliberately spreading false information aimed at confusing members of the public, stakeholders, and the K***a people regarding this important cultural event. Such actions are irresponsible and distract attention from the successful preparations currently underway.
The Association would like to categorically state that the date for the 2026 Malaila Traditional Ceremony remains unchanged. The ceremony will be held as scheduled on Saturday, 8th August 2026, in Mambwe District, Eastern Province of Zambia.
We therefore urge all members of the public, cooperating partners, traditional leaders, government officials, and invited guests to disregard any reports suggesting otherwise. Any official communication concerning the ceremony will only be issued through authorized KMTCA channels and recognized traditional leadership structures.
KMTCA remains committed to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the K***a people and looks forward to welcoming all guests to this year's Malaila Traditional Ceremony.
For further information, kindly contact the KMTCA Secretariat.
