Kalabo Town Council Senior Management team led by the Council Secretary Mr. Alisinda Nawa today paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Minister of Finance and National Planning Hon Situmbeko Musokotwane at his Office.

The Council Secretary congratulated the Minister on his re-appointment and wished him well as he took up the mantle to serve the Nation.

Mr. Nawa also took some time to discuss various operational issues with the Minister.

Kalabo Town Council through the Department of Health Services will be conducting a Mass Distribution of Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets (ITNs) across the district.
The exercise is aimed at preventing Malaria by ensuring that every household has a mosquito net.

All households in Kalabo. Each household will be registered by Community Health Workers (CHWs) and issued with nets at the same time. The nets are FREE FREE FREE

The Zambia Union Of Government And Allied Workers (ZULAWU) successfully conducted its Branch Executive Elections at Kalabo Town Council under the supervision of Mr. Davis Sianga, Principal Labour Officer, and Mr. Ndui Simenda, ZULAWU Provincial Secretary.

Members participated actively in a peaceful and transparent election process.

Kalabo Town Council held it's validation Exercise on 17th September, 2026 for nominated mixed member proportion representative of the Council.

All the nominated Councillors are coming from the United Party for National Development that won majority seats in the Council. The nominated Councillor include;
Mr. Namushi Mulambwa representing people living with disabilities, Ms. Simangolwa Sitali Nyambe Namusa representing Women while Mr. Muluti Sikota was nominated as a youth representative.

As a Council we wish the nominated Councillors well as they embark on the Journey to represent various groupings in the Council.

Kalabo Town Council in conjunction with Zhejiang International Engineering Construction Company Zambia Limited today held a joint Keep Zambia cleaning operation in observing the Presidential Directive of keeping Zambia Clean, green and health Campaign.

Residents of Kalabo District today gathered at Mapungu village to pay their last respect to the former Councilor for Mapungu Mr. Cox Mubiana Muyunda.

Former Councillor Cox Muyunda was put to rest today marking the end of a life decorated by civic accolades. He died on Sunday 13th September, 2026 at Kalabo District Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Muyunda has left behind a wife and 9 Children. He will be remembered for his remarkable contribution in lobbying for the development of Mapangu ward.

Ms Nalishebo Kangumu, the Branch Manager for Natsave Kalabo branch, accompanied by Mr. Jonathan Chinyemba, the team Lead operations, today paid a Courtesy call on the New Council Chairperson for Kalabo Town Council Mr. Kaywa Muyambango at His Office at the Civil Centre.

Kalabo Town Council, Management and staff, wishes to convey it's heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, residents of Mapungu Ward, and the general public in Kalabo District on the untimely passing of the late former and immediate past Councillor for Mapungu Ward, Mr. Cox Muyunda.

Mr. Muyunda died on Sunday, 13th September 2026 at Kalabo District Hospital following an illness.

Mr. Muyunda served the people of Mapungu Ward as Councillor with dedication and commitment for two consecutive terms from 2016 to 2026.

During his tenure as Councillor, he served on the Planning, Information Management System, Engineering and Infrastructure Development Sub Committee.of the Council.

His passing is a great loss not only to his family but also to the people of Mapungu Ward and the entire Kalabo District.

We remember him for his service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to public duty.

On behalf of the Council, we extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the bereaved family during this difficult period.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
