OVER 1000 SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER BENEFICIARIES IN LUKULU RECIEVE MOBILE PHONES.
Government, through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, has empowered 1,045 Social Cash Transfer (SCT) beneficiaries in Lukulu District with mobile phones to enhance access to digital payments and improve the delivery of social protection services.
Lukulu District Commissioner Kelly Kapaku officially launched the distribution exercise and said the initiative demonstrates government's commitment to promoting financial inclusion and ensuring that vulnerable households are not left behind in the country's digital transformation agenda.
Mr. Kapaku noted that the provision of mobile phones will enable beneficiaries to access their Social Cash Transfer payments more conveniently through mobile money platforms while reducing challenges associated with physical cash payments.
Meanwhile, Lukulu District Social Welfare Officer Namakau Kashina has urged beneficiaries to safeguard the mobile phones, stating that the devices are important tools for receiving Social Cash Transfer funds and accessing other government-supported services.
And some beneficiaries have expressed gratitude to government for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will make it easier for them to receive payments and communicate with service providers.
