One of the great things we expect from our New Crop of MPs as UPND is that we shall have lots of young MPs that want to make a difference.
Our Prayer is that all our incoming new MPs that have demonstrated the desire to be difference makers continue in that same spirit. As UPND we have a lot on our development agenda to actualize our manifesto. The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first day as MPs to work with Bally in taking Zambia to the next level of development. All the best to all our incoming MPs remember the reason you got elected is to serve the People.God bless

Share cars or use buses to avoid parking crisis at inauguration - Kangwa

GOVERNMENT has advised people going to the National Heroes Stadium for President-elect Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration tomorrow to share cars or where possible, use buses because there will be limited parking space at the stadium.

Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has urged invited guests to travel together in fewer vehicles to avoid parking problems and congestion around the stadium.

This is because thousands of people are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.

“In order to avoid any inconvenience, all Invitees to the ceremony are encouraged to consider car pooling due to the limited parking space at the stadium,” Kangwa said.

The warning comes as Zambians get ready for the big event, with thousands of people from different parts of the country expected to travel to Lusaka to witness the inauguration.

Meanwhile, after days of Zambians crying for a declaration of President-elect Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration day a public holiday, Government heard their cries and given a day off to go and witness the historic ceremony without worrying about being suspended from work.

“In this regard, the President has declared Tuesday, 1st September 2026, the day of the Swearing-in Ceremony, as a Public Holiday,” Kangwa said.

Some netizens have even been joking that they have already “put their waists on stake” for the inauguration and promised to dance until the last song is played.

The day Africa mourned: Who Killed Samora Machel

By Joseph maonde

On October 19, 1986, the great son of the soil lost his life. I still remember my mother telling who this man was. A great selfless man who dismantled Portuguese colonialism. Also in the plane was Zambian ambassador to Mozambique cox sikumba.
Samora Machel died when his presidential plane, a Soviet-made Tupolev Tu-134, crashed near Mbuzini in South Africa, close to the border with Mozambique. The crash killed Machel and 33 others on board, leaving only a handful of survivors.

Protecting themselves,South Africa’s apartheid government claimed that the plane crashed due to pilot error. According to their inquiry, the crew ignored navigational aids and accidentally flew the aircraft into South African territory, leading to the disaster.

The “False Beacon” Theory

A widely believed theory is that South African forces set up a false VOR (radio beacon), which tricked the plane’s navigation system into veering off course. This would mean the crash was a carefully planned assassination, not an accident.
