ZWW/UPND ALLIANCES JOIN FORCES FOR ZAMBIANS
The Zambians for Empowerment and Development-ZED party aka the Zambia We Want-ZWW has joined the UPND Alliance via the ZWW Alliance umbrella which itself was announced on 6th May, 2021.
The UPND Alliance expansion was announced at the Falls Way Apartments at a colorful ceremony attended by a sizeable crowd given the need to observe the COVID-19 protocols.
The ZWW Alliance is made up of the Movement for Democratic Change-MDC, led by Felix Mutati, Movement for Change and Equality –MCE led by Kaluba Simuyemba and the Zambia Must Prosper –ZMP movement led
by Kelvin Bwalya Fube as well as the very owners of the Zambia We Want motto, namely, the ZED party.
In addressing the press, ZED/ZWW President Ernest Mwansa ably presented on Governance as assigned by the UPND Alliance presser preparers and covered sub themes on the critical elements which matter in good governance, i.e. Transparency, Integrity, Information, Ideas/Values, Organizational structures and People.
Mr. Mwansa noted that no political manipulations can divide the Zambians who truly believe in the "One Zambia One Nation" motto coined many decades ago by the country`s first President Kenneth Kaunda.
In emphasizing a critical component of good governance President Mwansa said that Integrity matters most for those among Zambians called or indeed charged with governance. He bemoaned the high level of unemployment among the youth in Zambia which state of affairs has made them (the youths) vulnerable to abuse and readiness to do anything in order to put money in their pockets.
The ZED President expressed unhappiness about the emergence of
reckless, violent and militarized cadres, some of them dressed in military fatigues going about brutalizing innocent people, grabbing people's private properties, attacking the police at police stations, unlawfully taking over the responsibilities of the republican presidential guards, carrying weapons of war, sometimes waving the same to the frightened public in Zambia today.
He condemned the high levels of corruption currently being witnessed and reported about in the country as a sign of bad governance which makes the rescue of the country by the Alliances (UPND & ZWW) from the PF regime, an urgent matter! “If the highlighted vices continue unchecked we shall create a situation where stealing is legitimized, corruption will be a way of life and in the end wrong will be right and right wrong and ill gotten wealth with be glorified. In a nation like that crooks take over and good people become the foolish ones!” said Mr. Mwansa.
President Mwansa emphasized the need for a devolved system of government that shall allow local people in the ward to decide on their most basic infrastructural needs without having to look to Lusaka for matters they are well able do for themselves if empowered appropriately.
In conclusion Mr. Mwansa promised that the Alliance shall cherish the idea of the “collective” and promote team
spirit with peer pressure mechanisms at Cabinet level so that internal checks and balances are exercised in favour
of the people of Zambia, come 13 August, 2021.
