JOB ADVERT: FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY OFFICER
The National Food and Nutrition Commission is a statutory Body, with the mandate of providing promotional, advisory and regulatory support to government on matters of food and nutrition. The Institution now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of:
1.0 Food and Nutrition Security Officer
1.1 JOB PURPOSE: To undertake effectively the development and implementation of Food and Nutrition security interventions in order to meet dietary needs of persons
1.2 KEY RESULT AREAS
KRA PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILTY (MAIN DUTIES)
Food and Nutrition guidelines Undertakes effectively the development of food and nutrition guidelines in order to ensure standardised implementation of food and nutrition security programmes
Food and Nutrition applications Undertakes effectively the review of applications for food and nutrition programmes/projects in order to ensure they meet the food and nutrition security requirements
Food and Nutrition Security Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of food and nutrition security interventions in order to enhance household food and nutrition security
Nutritional Assessments Undertakes effectively anthropometric nutritional assessments in order to recommend appropriate interventions on institutional feeding and micronutrient deficiency control
Nutrition Initiatives Undertakes effectively the formulation and implementation public health nutrition initiatives in order to improve the nutritional status of the nation
Emergency preparedness and response Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of food and nutrition Emergency preparedness and response plan in order to ensure provision of appropriate mitigation measures
Multi-sectoral response programmes Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of multi-sectoral food and nutrition security programmes in order to facilitate harmonized implementation among stakeholders
1.3 EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition or equivalent
Two years of relevant work experience in reputable organization
Valid relevant professional membership
1.4 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Computer Literate
Able to write analytical and technical reports
Able to communicate effectively in English
1.5 OTHER SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Honesty, Integrity, Interpersonal Skills, Trustworthy, and attention to detail.
