On behalf of Zambia Athletics, I sincerely congratulate Team Zambia on an outstanding performance at the 2026 CUCSA Games in Gaborone, Botswana, where our athletes won eight medals (4 Silver and 4 Bronze).

Silver Medals: Men’s 100m, Men’s 4×100m Relay, Women’s 4×400m Relay, and Mixed 4×400m Relay.

Bronze Medals: Men’s 400m, Women’s 800m, Men’s 5000m, and Men’s 4×400m Relay.

This achievement reflects the dedication, discipline, and resilience of our athletes, coaches, team officials, and institutions. Thank you for flying the Zambian flag high and inspiring the next generation of athletes.

A Proud Moment for Zambia Athletics

As President of Zambia Athletics, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Edna NG'andula on earning a fully funded athletic scholarship to Barton Community College in Kansas, USA.

This remarkable achievement reflects the values we continue to promote in athletics discipline, hard work, resilience, and excellence. Edna’s success is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the Zambia Army, Zambia Athletics, and our nation.

As she prepares to represent Zambia at the Commonwealth Games before commencing her studies in the United States, I have every confidence that she will continue to excel both academically and on the track while proudly flying the Zambian flag.

May her journey inspire every young athlete to believe that sport can open doors to education, leadership, and global opportunities. On behalf of the Zambia Athletics Executive, our coaches, technical officials, and the entire athletics fraternity, I wish Private Edna Ngandula every success in this exciting new chapter.

Farewell to a True Champion of Athletics and Fitness

It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of our dear brother, colleague, and fellow runner, Mr. Akende Sianga.

Akende was a true inspiration. Despite being a cardiac patient, he encouraged all of us to remain active, keep fit, and live healthy lives regardless of our circumstances. He persevered, conquered road races, and became a shining example of courage, determination, and resilience.

A passionate supporter of the Inter-Company Relay (ICR), Akende proudly participated in all 26 editions of the event without missing a single one. His final race was the 26th ICR held on Saturday, 13th June 2026, where he and his team emerged victorious in the 10km Masters Relay Race.

Having had the privilege of running alongside him in the Lusaka Sunday Running Group in Leopards Hill, his passing deeply saddens me. He was a man full of life, humility, positivity, and an unwavering commitment to fitness.

On behalf of Zambia Athletics and the entire running community, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all those whose lives he touched.

Akende will be remembered for his courage, perseverance, and the inspiration he provided to countless runners and members of the athletics community.

Rest in peace, Champion. Your legacy will continue to run with us.

ZAMBIAN ATHLETES INVITED TO THE FNB BOTSWANA GOLDEN GRAND PRIX (WORLD ATHLETICS CONTINENTAL TOUR – SILVER)

Zambia Athletics wishes to inform the nation, members, media, and stakeholders that four (4) Zambian athletes have been invited to compete at the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix, scheduled for 26th April 2026 in Gaborone, Botswana.

The invited athletes are:

1. Patrick Nyambe
2. Edina Ng’andula
3. Emeldah Kapunjila
4. Sitali Kakene

They departed this morning for Botswana.

In addition, Muzala Samukonga is scheduled to compete in today’s international competition in Kenya as part of his ongoing competition calendar.

This event is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour and serves as an important ranking and qualification platform for major international championships.

The Association calls upon the nation to support all athletes as they represent Zambia with pride on the international stage.

Today, I had the honour of officially launching the 26th Inter Company Relay (ICR), Zambia’s largest corporate wellness and fundraising sporting event.

Set for 13th June 2026 at the Showgrounds Polo Fields in Lusaka, this year’s event will run under the theme:

“Celebrating 26 Years of Corporate Partnerships, Athletic Excellence and National Health – Together, We Can Win.”

Since its founding in 1999, the ICR has stood as a powerful platform for promoting health, teamwork, unity, and raising funds for athletics development across our nation.

This year’s event will feature:
• 10km Inter Company Relay (teams of 😎
• CEO & Directors’ Races
• 5km Health Walk
• 10km and 21km Individual Races

We look forward to participation from government institutions, corporate bodies, NGOs, and the diplomatic community. Beyond competition, organisations benefit through employee wellness, visibility, networking, and stronger corporate social responsibility.

Our target this year is to raise over K2 million to support:
• Youth athletics development and talent identification
• Athlete preparation for regional and international competitions
• Strengthening provincial athletics structures

We are also proud to introduce improved event systems, enhanced timing technology, expanded participation, and the return of the Kids’ Athletics Programme.

I call upon all partners, sponsors, organisations, and individuals to join us in making this year’s edition bigger and more impactful. Together, we can advance wellness, unity, and national development through sport.
