With the Zambia Police now having confirmed the summoning of President Hakainde Hichilema at Force HQ on Wednesday, 23 December 2020, for questioning on what we now understand to be bogus, trumped up, politically motivated charges; we would like to emphasize, that this is a damning indication, that the Patriotic Front (PF) regime, in a quest to maintain their grip on political power, have graduated their tactics from merely harassing and intimidating Mr. Hichilema, to actively abusing state police resources to subvert and silence democracy in our country.

The PF are well aware, that Mr. Hichilema has become the only legitimate symbol of hope and help for all Zambians, and that Mr. Hichilema continues to enjoy such unprecedented support ahead of the 2021 polls; and thus the regime will breach all boundaries of rationality and common sense, including risking the peace and security of our country in a quest to maintain political power.

Any attempts by the PF to arrest Mr. Hichilema on bogus, non existent charges, are in fact aimed at interfering with the democratic will of the millions of Zambians who have lost faith in the incompetent and corrupt leadership of the PF and instead looking to Mr. Hichilema and the UPND to restore the heart and soul of the Zambian Republic to its former glory.

Mr. Hichilema's resolve remains unshaken and unchanged, and he remains firmly focused on providing the critical leadership which the country is lacking under the PF regime.

The Zambian people are earnestly urged to remain alert and resolute in standing up to and against the now predictable dirty tricks of the PF to try and silence our voices ahead of the 2021 general election.

We would further like to urge our security services, to exercise maximum professionalism in the course of discharging their duties and thus resist all temptations of aiding a brutal regime in the political persecution of Zambians in the name of political power play.

We remain confident that the police will ultimately exonerate Mr. Hichilema and that they will continue to stand with the Zambian people in defense of democracy and constitutionalism in our country.
