🇿🇼SUBSTANCE AND DRUG ABUSE 🇿🇼

Substance and drug abuse works like a cancer, it doesn't care whether you are educated or uneducated, employed or unemployed, rich or poor.

I still remember my first day of attachment at Ingutsheni Central Hospital . When I arrived in Khumalo ward, I had the opportunity to interact with victims of drug abuse. I felt their pain as if they were my own siblings.

I approached one young man whose English was more fluent than mine. I asked him what had led him to start taking co***ne. What he told me touched my heart. He had tragically lost both parents in a road traffic accident on their way to his university graduation. The grief consumed him, and he later turned to drugs as a way of coping.

I then asked him who had been supplying him. He fell silent, stuporous. After a long minute, he simply said, "Leave that question. You are still young, and I see a bright future ahead of you."
His answer left me with more questions than answers.

Today, ten years later, as I type this on my phone, the same problem still exists.
As a concerned, patriotic youth, I write to you behind a pen name, but with a burning heart to make a difference. I believe there are two things we must focus on in this fight:
1. Fix the broken pipe, not the tributaries.
It does little good to keep diverting the sewage without repairing the source. We must go after the suppliers — big and small alike.

2. Build step-down facilities.
Rehabilitation and hospitalization alone are like filling a broken bucket with water. Once patients return to the same environment that shaped their addiction, the cycle repeats. We need step-down facilities that support gradual, lasting reintegration into society — alongside stronger funding and support for our law enforcement agents.

I want to thank Amai veNyika yedu, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa , for the love and care shown to victims of drug abuse. This is exactly the kind of step-down support we need more of. I would also like to thank everyone who is working day and night fighting drug abuse ,the only person who will reward you its God .Money is not enough to thank you.

Drug abuse is a burden on the nation. Let us work together to fight it.

Today, His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, Chancellor of all State Universities, will preside over the 17th Graduation Ceremony of the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), held at the university's Belvedere Campus.

A total of 734 students will be capped today, marking the successful culmination of years of dedication, discipline, and hard work. These graduates represent the future engineers, technologists, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will drive Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 agenda of an empowered and prosperous upper-middle-income economy.

Harare Institute of Technology continues to play a pivotal role in equipping young Zimbabweans with the technical and innovative skills required to compete in an increasingly digital and knowledge-driven global economy.

As a Chancellor, President Mnangagwa has consistently emphasised the importance of aligning higher education with national development priorities — particularly in science, technology, engineering, and innovation.

To the Class of 2026: congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Your success is a testament to your resilience and to the unwavering investment our Government continues to make in education as the bedrock of sustainable national development.

WHEN GOD SAYS YES, NO ONE CAN SAY NO 🇿🇼

As I look at the 1942 calendar, the 15th day is circled in golden ink, glowing like a diamond 💎. That is the day ,the township of Shabani (Zvishavane) gave us not just a leader, but a father of our nation — a man who nursed the wounds of colonial brutality and is now ushering our country into a middle-income economy.

As I turn to the 1965 calendar, I wonder why the background feels so dark. This was when the enemy believed he had stopped God's plan — but God protected our Joshua, as Canaan was so near.

This is when a young Emmerson Mnangagwa was arrested for blowing up a train near Masvingo and sentenced to death. His lawyers saved him from ex*****on because he was under 21, and his sentence was commuted to 10 years in prison.

Prison did not break his determination for a free Zimbabwe — it strengthened it. Those years forged new friendships and connections, among them his bond with the late former President Cde R.G. Mugabe.

After independence, he entered government and has continued to serve with hard work, commitment, and dedication ever since.

H.E. President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has dedicated his life — from his youth to this day — to building a better Zimbabwe.

As a young Zimbabwean, I have no silver, no gold, only prayers. I pray for many more blessed years ahead, and I believe in the journey — from a middle-income economy to a fully developed nation.
