Gokwe South RDC Conducts Second Round of Revenue Mobilisation in Gomoguru Ward 14

Gokwe South Rural District Council conducted its second round of revenue mobilisation exercise in Gomoguru, Ward 14, on Monday, 17 August 2026.

The exercise was aimed at engaging residents and ratepayers on the importance of paying council rates, levies and other outstanding bills in order to support effective service delivery and the implementation of community development projects.

During the engagement, Council officials interacted with residents, provided information on outstanding accounts and encouraged ratepayers to settle their obligations. The exercise also provided an opportunity for residents to raise concerns and seek clarification on Council billing and revenue-related matters.

Gokwe South RDC continues to encourage all residents and businesses to honour their financial obligations to Council, as revenue collected is critical in supporting **service delivery, infrastructure development and the provision of essential services** to communities.

Gokwe South RDC Commissions New Service Delivery Equipment

Gokwe South Rural District Council has strengthened its service delivery capacity following the commissioning of two Nissan Navara single-cab vehicles and one front-end loader on 6 August 2026

The two Nissan Navara single-cab vehicles were procured through **Devolution funding, while the front-end loader was acquired with funding from the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA). The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Hon. Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution**, who officially handed over the equipment to the Council.

The newly acquired vehicles and machinery are expected to enhance the Council’s operational capacity and improve service delivery to communities across Gokwe South District. The Nissan Navara vehicles will support Council operations, including field activities, monitoring of projects and programmes, and other essential service delivery functions.

The front-end loader will significantly strengthen the Council’s capacity to undertake road maintenance, rehabilitation, earthworks and other infrastructure development activities within the district. Its availability will reduce reliance on hired equipment and enable Council to respond more efficiently to road and infrastructure needs.

The commissioning of the equipment demonstrates the Government’s commitment to the **Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda**, which seeks to empower local authorities with resources and equipment to improve service delivery at community level.

Gokwe South Rural District Council is conducting a comprehensive systems audit from **13 July 2026 to 15 July 2026** as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening institutional systems, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving service delivery.

The systems audit is being chaired by **District Development Coordinator (DDC) Mr. Mutsakani of Gokwe North**, with the support of **two Assistant District Development Coordinators from Gokwe South**. **Gokwe South RDC Conducts Shortlisting for Front-End Loader and Grader Operator Posts**

Today, Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully conducted the shortlisting process for the positions of **Front-End Loader Operator** and **Grader Operator** as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening service delivery through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.

The exercise was carried out in collaboration with representatives from the **Public Service Commission (PSC)** and the **District Development Coordinator's (DDC) Office**. Those in attendance included **Ms. Mahefu** from the Public Service Commission, **Ms. N. Mushauri** from the DDC's Office, **Mr. Pfekeche**, and members of the Gokwe South RDC Management team.

Gokwe South Rural District Council is pleased to provide an update on the rehabilitation of **Jovo Bridge in Ward 1**.

As part of the ongoing infrastructure development programme, a significant milestone has been achieved with the successful delivery of culverts to the project site. The arrival of these materials marks the beginning of the bridge construction phase and demonstrates Council's commitment to improving road infrastructure within the district.

The rehabilitation of Jovo Bridge is expected to enhance access for residents, improve the movement of people, goods and services, and provide a safer crossing, particularly during the rainy season. **Gokwe South RDC Holds Strategic Roundtable Discussion with COTTCO on Reviving Zimbabwe's Cotton Industry**

Gokwe South Rural District Council hosted a high-level roundtable discussion with representatives from the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (COTTCO) to deliberate on strategies aimed at revitalizing the country's cotton industry and restoring its contribution to rural livelihoods and national economic growth.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Gokwe South RDC management, three COTTCO representatives from Harare and Gokwe, and senior government leadership. The discussions were graced by Central Committee Member Hon. Samson Chigaba, together with another Central Committee Member representing Gokwe North.

The engagement focused on identifying practical solutions to the challenges affecting cotton production, including low production levels, farmer support mechanisms, input availability, market sustainability, and strengthening partnerships between local authorities, government, and COTTCO.
