Gokwe South Rural District Council wishes to inform the public that there will be a sale of stray cattle on **12 June 2026** at **Nhongo Business Centre, Ward 17**.

Gokwe South Rural District Council management, together with the District Development Coordinator’s (DDC) office and the Council Chairman, successfully visited all the eight chiefs in the district to appreciate their efforts in the previous revenue mobilisation programs.

During the visits, the leadership commended the chiefs for their cooperation, commitment, and support in encouraging communities to contribute towards council revenue collection. The chiefs were also encouraged to continue promoting robust revenue mobilisation initiatives for the year 2026 in order to improve service delivery and community development within the district.

As a gesture of appreciation for the important role played by the traditional leaders, the council managed to provide groceries as a token of gratitude to all the chiefs. The visits strengthened the working relationship between the council, government offices, and traditional leadership in fostering development in Gokwe South District.

CHIEF NEMANGWE INSTALLS HEADMAN NDLALAMBI INTO OFFICE

On Friday, 15 May 2026, hundreds of people from different areas gathered at Nyaradza Secondary School in Gokwe South District for the installation ceremony of Headman Ndlalambi, an event that brought great joy to the local community.

Headman Ndlalambi, who falls under the jurisdiction of Chief Nemangwe, was officially appointed by the Government of Zimbabwe on 11 December 2025. Mr. Mapilisi Moyo was installed as the Headman of the Ndlalambi area.

The Guest of Honour, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province, Cde Honourable Owen Ncube, who was ably represented by the Director of Local Government, Cde Charlton Murove, explained to the gathering the procedures involved in the appointment of traditional leaders.

Cde C. Murove stated that after consultations and approval by both the Ndlalambi family and the Nemangwe royal family, the Ndlalambi family was officially granted the headmanship by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works on 11 December 2025.

The installation ceremony was attended by various Government departments, the ruling ZANU PF leadership, War Veterans, Youth leaders, all councillors from Gokwe South District, headmen, village heads, school children, and members of the public from different communities.

Gokwe South Rural District Council recently attended a community radio installation program held at Nemangwe Rural Service Centre. The program is aimed at improving communication and information dissemination within the community through the establishment of a community radio station.

During the meeting, the community was promised materials and equipment worth USD 15,000 to be used in setting up and operating the radio room. The support is expected to help create an effective broadcasting centre that will benefit local residents through access to information, education, and community development programs.

The program was facilitated by representatives from the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). Four representatives travelled from Harare, while one representative came from Gweru to provide training and assist in pushing the program forward. Their role was to teach community members how to use the equipment and manage the operations of the community radio station.

The initiative is expected to strengthen communication in Gokwe South and provide a platform for the community to share local news, culture, and development issues.

E-Government Procurement (e-GP) Training Workshop

Gokwe South Rural District Council (RDC) conducted a training workshop in collaboration with the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ). The workshop was facilitated by PRAZ representatives, Tatenda Siziba and Kundai Chindondi, and was aimed at equipping local bidders within Gokwe South District with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively participate in public procurement processes.

The training focused on guiding participants on how to bid for government tenders using the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system. Key areas covered included bidder registration on the e-GP platform, navigation of the system, submission of bids, and compliance with procurement regulations.

The workshop also emphasized transparency, accountability, and fairness in public procurement, while encouraging local businesses to actively participate in government tenders. Participants were given practical demonstrations on how to use the system, which enhanced their understanding and confidence in utilizing the e-GP platform.

Overall, the workshop contributed to improving the capacity of local bidders and promoting inclusive participation in procurement opportunities within the district

Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully held a Workers Committee selection meeting yesterday, in support of Mr Mpofu from the Workers Union.

During the meeting, council workers democratically selected their new committee representatives as follows:

Gokwe South RDC Holds First Full Council Meeting

Gokwe South Rural District Council successfully conducted its first full council meeting, bringing together council leadership, management, and councilors to deliberate on key issues affecting the district.

During the meeting, various matters concerning the operations and development of the council were discussed in detail. These included service delivery, revenue collection, infrastructure development, and community welfare.

The council also focused on mapping the way forward, outlining practical strategies and action plans to ensure effective implementation of council programs and policies. Emphasis was placed on accountability, teamwork, and improving service delivery to the communities of Gokwe South.

The meeting marked an important step in strengthening governance and ensuring that the council remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of serving the people efficiently and effectively.
