The Fisheries ECOSYSTEM is key and a GAMECHANGER for Zimbabwe’s Food-Security! Prof. Dr. Obert Jiri said during an interview at the just ended National Stakeholders’ Consultative Workshop on Africa/Zimbabwe Blue Economy Strategy on Fisheries and Aquaculture.
Fisheries sub-sector does not only act as a source of food and nutrition but must be viewed as a complete ecosystem for a sustainable economy- with potential to boost transport infrastructure, tourism sector, and employment creation.
Zimbabwe being a landlocked country with over 10000 water bodies, must see this potential to create economic value through Fisheries and Acquaculture.

LIPS Zimbabwe is advancing Livestock Production Systems to combat Climate Change induced diseases, improve animal health, nutrition, breeding and for sustainable marketing of livestock and livestock products.
The project being spearheaded by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and its partners CIRAD, CIMMYT, UZ Faculty of Veterinary Sciences in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe is being implemented in 9 districts of Zimbabwe: Buhera, Mutoko, Chiredzi, Beitbridge, Gwanda, Nkayi, Gokwe North, Binga and Hwange.
