Travelling and pregnancy
•Schedule a check up with your doctor before traveling
•If you have conditions such as very high blood pressure , low lying placenta or twin pregnancy, travelling is not recommended especially near term.
•Research on nearby health facilities to your destination in case of emergency and always know your due date
•Remember to carry and continue taking your medication or supplements
•Deep Vein Thrombosis is when a blood clot forms in the pelvis or legs after sitting for a long time and is more common in pregnancy.
• If travelling by car, take multiple stops to stretch legs , drink plenty of water and always wear seat belt
• If travelling by air take note of travelling restrictions for pregnant women for both international and domestic flights. Make a plan to get up and stretch often, drink plenty of water and make use of compression stockings where necessary.
Today i take time to celebrate my friends, fellow gynaecologists who introduced me to a lifestyle of self-care and fitness.

Counting down to the holidays aren't we......? Here is some information on what to watch out for in our expecting mothers.
During antenatal care, most pregnancies are uneventful, however, some may have problems. One of the major reasons for the "First delay" is poor understanding of complications and risk factors in pregnancy and knowing when to seek care.
Vaginal bleeding ~ miscarriage, preterm labour or antepartum haemorrhage
Severe abdominal pain ~ ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, urinary tract infection
Fever~ Infection e.g malaria
Severe headaches ~ high blood pressure
Leaking fluid~ Breaking waters
Reduced baby movements~ Need to check fetal wellbeing
Convulsions or fits ~ Severe form of elevated blood pressure in pregnancy
Always remember : every woman deserves a positive pregnancy experience!!
Hello beautiful, how are you today?
Today is World AIDS Day! This year's theme is 'EQUALIZE". To end HIV as a public health problem and its effects on individuals we must address inequalities hindering the global HIV response. These include gender inequalities among others.

Another Monday is here we are grateful as always and wish for a fruitful week ahead. Today we talk a bit about recurring vaginal yeast infections.
Candidiasis can happen to any woman and up to 75% will have at least one vaginal yeast infection in their life. A number of women suffer from recurring vaginal yeast infections causing a lot of distress and affecting their quality of life.
In such cases, one should get checked out by their doctor. They may require a test to confirm the vaginal yeast infection. Make sure you complete the treatment course as prescribed. Probiotics such as Avafem can also be used to reduce the risk of recurrent yeast infections.
Hello there , hoping your week so far is fruitful and blessed.
Today we talking about puberty, a transition period from childhood to adulthood. It is marked by certain physical and hormonal changes. Triggers for timing of puberty depends on genetic family history as well as amount of body fat.
Precocious puberty is when the transition occurs before 8 years in girls and 9 years in boys.
The changes that happen are similar to normal puberty i.e breast development, p***c hair growth, growth spurt and me**es, in that order.
It is good practice to prepare girl child for puberty especially menstruation so that the transition is smooth and does not affect them at school or home.

Happy world prematurity day!!!This day was set aside to raise awareness of the needs of premature babies and how their families can be supported.
This year 's theme is : a parent 's embrace: a powerful therapy. Skin to skin kangaroo is an important practice initiated immediately after birth (if clinically stable) , it promotes early breastfeeding and has several benefits to the premature baby.
The 17th November 2022 marks the second year since the world committed to the elimination of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Zimbabwe. The burden of the cancer and number of women who die remains high due to women presenting late, not being screened and challenges with diagnosis and treatment at health facilities. Cervical cancer can be prevented and treated if caught early. HPV vaccines help protect against common cancer causing types of human papilloma viruses. Lets us spread the word and play our part in the prevention and early treatment of cervical cancer.

Hello ladies happy new week dear, i have something for you something you should know and also tell your friends and family it is about PRETERM birth.
It cannot always be prevented, however, in some instances some intervention can help improve outcome. Secondary prevention refers to identifying and managing women at risk of preterm birth. It then follows that women should see and visit their doctors before falling pregnant and early booking of pregnancy. In some cases, women who book at local clinics are referred to next level of care once risk has been identified.
Olla Beautiful here are some insights on the prevention of preterm birth.
As we get closer to World Prematurity Day we would like to discuss some strategies to reduce prematurity. Preterm birth refers to delivery before 37 weeks of gestation. Premature babies are at risk of serious illness or death during the first month of life. Those who survive may suffer from long-term disability with poor quality of life.
Primary prevention of preterm birth refers to strategies aimed towards the general population especially women during the time when planning to fall pregnant.
