Zimbabwe Youth Festival

Zimbabwe Youth Festival Zimbabwe Youth Festival is an annual youth festival founded in 2011. The festival features fine, visual and performing arts products created by young people.
The Zimbabwe Youth Festival is an interactive and youth development platform bringing together young Zimbabwean women and men from different backgrounds. It is aimed at building and supporting a formidable community of youth movement that uses the power of creativity to articulate sensitive issues and advocate for an increased range of human choices. The festival is designed as an experiential, entertaining and sustainable platform for the youth to engage in reflection on their challenges, express their concerns as well as to celebrate their own achievements, talent and role in society. It is made in such a way that it is the bridge linking young artists, young audiences and the community in general to social development as it is a carrier of development message, a demonstration of youth capacity and an employment creation vehicle. Using the international youth day platform, the festival intends to become a recurring event on the development and artistic calendars of Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe youth festival will consult take cognisance of the global commemorative themes.

This year's event is on cards. Zimbabwe Youth Festival 2012 is themed, Sowing A Seed- building a vibrant grassroots based movement of young people actively taking part in forming, informing and contributing to national discourse through non-conventional mobilisation, participation and advocacy approaches. The project motivates young people to take a centre stage now and bear responsibility for creating a thriving country and a better tomorrow. It challenges the culture of apathy which currently typifies the state of young people in Zimbabwe. Inspired by the lessons from the previous festival, the success of the Zimbabwe Youth Festival lies in its ability to transcend physical boundaries in terms of reach and location within which the festival takes place. It combines performing arts with mass-mobilisation, seminars, film screenings and community voluntary work. Last year's event which was inaugural featured performances from Alexio Kawara, Edith weUtonga, Mokoomba, Mathias Julias and XVYBS, Chikwata 263, Umoja CFC, Roki, Stunner feat. Baba Shupi and Shastro, EQ, Leonard Mapfumo, Extra Large, Freeman, King Shaddy, Lady Squander and many more

Mission: We are building a vibrant grassroots based movement of young people actively taking part in forming, informing and contributing to community development through non-conventional mobilisation, participation and advocacy approaches.

The Heart of the Mountain

Firstly allow me to introduce myself , my name is Simon Nyarugwe , a Zimbabwean media professional practitioner based in South Africa

Following the disaster that is continuing to strike our beloved country caused by the Cyclone IDAI , Yesterday @The Simon Nyarugwe Foundation ran a campaign with Backabuddy .

I had made Red Cross Zim the benefactor of this campaign as i was guaranteed the aid would distributed efficiently by them

https://www.backabuddy.co.za/cyclone-idai

The response has been phenomemal .. the friends of the Simon Nyarugwe Foundation came through for us ..

The Women Presidents Organisation ( Canada) ad Sesego Foundation (South Africa) has donated 211 boxes of Manna packs that is 46000 meals . The packs are ready to be collected at the Sesego Foundation Warehouse in Germiston SA ..

Unfortunately the Simon Nyarugwe Foundation doesnt have the capacity to transport the given aid to Zimbabwe as it stands .. We would have loved to but we lack necessary capital to do so ..
Will you be able to facilitate the transportation?

Thank you much

Zimbabwe Today

Only if we can think and behave like this.

Saw this today but couldn't share it so copied and pasted:

DEAR ZIMBABWEANS
🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼
A humble request to every Zimbabwean - let's share this message of hope
1. Don't throw garbage on the roads/streets. ( please STOP dumping rubbish bags on the roads too )
2. Don't spit or urinate on roads and walls.
3. Don't write on walls and currency notes.
4. Don't abuse and insult others, rather, be patient, tolerant and controlled.
5. Save water and electricity.
6. Plant a tree.
7. Obey traffic rules.
8. Honour and take care of ur parents and grandparents, take their blessings and always respect them.
9. Respect women.
10. Give way to ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
11. Treat your neighbour in the way you would want to be treated.
12. Do not seek for corners to cut in anything you do.
13. Be intentional in honesty & integrity.
14. Fear God in a way that is demonstrated in your lifestyle.
15. Respect every individual, regardless of race, religion, tribe or status, we are all Gods creations.
16. Always seek to be part of the solution and not the problem.
17. Grab every opportunity to be kind and helpful.
18. Be conscious of setting a good example for younger or junior ones.
19. Be content and grateful for what you have more than lamenting over what you lack.
20. Be proud of being a Zimbabwean 🇿🇼by focusing on the positives and acknowledging that God does not make mistakes.
*We need to change ourselves and not the country. Once we change ourselves the country will automatically change*
If we want our children to live in a clean, safe and prosperous environment, then pledge to follow these pointers in your everyday life.
No one person or leader can change the country alone; it's you and I who can change our beloved nation, by changing ourselves.
Kindly forward this important message to every friend or group so that it reaches every citizen of Zimbabwe

In the domestic and social realm, ‘the youth’ implies children. In political party doctrine, ‘youths’ are the confrontational and mobilising arm that has l…
