Today we join the rest of the nation in celebrating Unity Day. The church envisions a Zimbabwe that is united, prosperous and free of all forms of discrimination and violence.

"Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” - Mark 5:41

We need to affirm our girl children the same way we treat boys and care for and love them. Girl children’s lives are equally important as that of boys.

"But the men would not listen to him. So the man seized his concubine & made her go out to them. And they knew her & abused her all night until the morning. And as the dawn began to break, they let her go." Judges 19:25

The ZCC recently sat down with the Zimbabwe Media Commission in a bilateral engagement meant to establish common ground ahead of the fast approaching elections. Our society remains deeply polarized along political lines, with media playing a contributing factor.

We committed to collaboration that will see media playing a more positive role in contributing to a cohesive society. The commission emphasized that the church's voice should be heard throughout the electoral cycle.

16/11/2022

On Monday the ZCC led by the President Bishop Dr. Makumbe engaged the leadership of the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF). The meeting focused on the introduction of the new ZCC leadership, as well as discussing emerging issues around peace & electoral processes, and agreeing on cooperation mechanisms as we seek to collectively work for a better Zimbabwe.
The meeting was a continuation of the church's efforts in contributing to a united, peaceful, just & prosperous Zimbabwe where all citizens enjoy holistic salvation.

It was agreed in the meeting that:

1. We must collectively work towards a common vision/national identity. We can differ in our politics but we must find common ground that unifies us as a nation. We need to rally behind our shared vision & values as a country.

2. We agreed violence is not good for the country, & damages our image. We need to collectively work towards peace & a peaceful 2023 elections. Women & youths disproportionately suffer the effects of violence.

3. We need to work towards building our relationships. Relationships are strained at all levels and the church has the crucial role of facilitating & fostering good relationships across all facets of society.

It was encouraging to hear the ZANU PF leadership express their desire for the country to mirror the church. Churches are accommodative, people set aside political differences & fellowship together. We need to celebrate our diversity, building peace before, during & after the 2023 elections.

Together we build the Zimbabwe we cherish!
