Compliments of the new season and welcome aboard the Heritage and Culture train 2020. This is going to be an exciting, fun filled, invigorating educational adventure for our scholars. We begin the year on a very high note with the Primary Schools Heritage Quiz Competition. These competitions will be held across all districts building up to the Provincial finals were the winners will battle for supremacy for a slot to the National Finals. For this year, in Harare, we have 31 Districts participating an improvement from 16 Districts last year. This is in a bid to capture all schools and the same efforts are being done in all the districts and provinces in the country. Mashanaland East, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central and Harare Metropolitan have set to hold their preliminaries from 6 March to 20 March in their districts. The Provincial Finals will be held at a venue to be advised on 27 March. Visit the Ministry of Education offices for clarification and further information. you can also visit our National Museums Regional offices in Mutare, Gweru, Bulawayo and Masvingo.

The National Finals will be held at the Natural History Museum in Bulawayo on the 15th of May 2020. So its now game on as schools battle it out for the top title of the Primary Schools Heritage Quiz Competition winner of 2020. All the the best and more importantly, engage, explore and enjoy our rich heritage.

Primary Schools Heritage Quiz Programme

Theme: MUSEUMS AS CULTURAL HUBS:THE FUTURE OF TRADITION

Its bigger, better and more exciting.This year's edition of the Primary Schools Heritage has been enlarged to Provincial level. For the Northern Region, the scope now covers Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central and Harare Metropolitan Provinces. For the Western Region, it has been extended to Matebeleland North, South Provinces and Bulawayo Province. The schools in the mentioned provinces will be battling it out for a place in the National Finals. Masvingo, Mutare and Midlands have one province under their jurisdiction, hence no changes to their structures. The quiz competition is open to all primary schools across the country.

The host for this year's finals is the Northern Region, the venue is the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences, on the 17th of May 2019. The quiz are a build up for the celebration of the International Museums Day on 18 May, a day set aside by the International Council of Museums. Entry to the Museum is FREE on the 18th of May. For the Northern Region, entry will be free as host the quiz finals on the 17th and the actual International Museums Day on the 18th is free as well.
