Investing means putting your money to work so it can make more money. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme and it’s not gambling. There are risks involved. Being an informed investor means having a plan and understanding each of your investments.
Planning and education should start at an early age; SECZ, in collaboration with partners (IPEC, RBZ) is working with key stakeholders to design curricula which tackles financial literacy at primary school level onwards.

Most Zimbabweans in search of investing options end up losing their money to Ponzi schemes. This is partly attributed to lack of knowledge about the existence of unit trusts. To bridge the gap and get around these challenges and generate interest in investing amongst Zimbabweans, Intellego Investment Consultants were engaged to collate information about all unit trust funds in the country. Find out more in the monthly publication that will be available to all from www.seczim.co.zw
Unit trusts are unincorporated mutual funds that pass profits directly to investors rather than reinvesting in the fund. The investor is the trust's beneficiary. Fund managers run the unit trust and trustees are often assigned to ensure that the fund is run according to its goals and objectives.
The GroWealth Guide Unit Trusts booklet, spearheaded by SECZ and IPF, was recently launched as part of a broad initiative to promote the development of the Unit Trust sector. The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Prof. Mthuli Ncube attended as the guest of honor and commended the industry wide collaboration. Find out more on the below link

By investing in Unit Trusts, investors have access to specialist investment skills through investment management firms and Fund Managers. Investment management firms are central to the operations of Unit Trust Funds. They set up Unit Trust Funds and define their objectives. Investment management firms offer Unit Trust Funds to the investing public and receive funds for the purchase of units. They also administer day-to-day functions of the Unit Trust Fund, including purchases and sales of the targeted assess, updating the unit prices and paying off investors whenever they sell their units. This means investors benefit from the skills and experience Fund Managers have in selecting the right assets in order to deliver the desired objective of a Unit Trust Fund.
