Keeping Ward 4 Clean, One Community at a Time
Hwange Local Board yesterday took its clean-up exercise to Ward 4, where Councillor Morison Mafa led residents in a community clean-up at the Empumalanga Baghdad Section Shopping Centre.
The exercise brought residents together to remove litter and improve the cleanliness of the shopping centre and surrounding areas. Such initiatives demonstrate the importance of community participation in maintaining clean, safe and healthy neighbourhoods.

Hwange Local Board Steps Up Efforts to Improve Trading Spaces in Empumalanga
Hwange Local Board has commenced construction of the Empumalanga DRC Section Shopping Centre vegetable market, marking another step towards creating safer, cleaner and more organised trading spaces for local vendors.
The development is aimed at providing vendors with a designated place to conduct their businesses in a more secure and dignified environment, while also helping to improve the overall appearance and cleanliness of the area.
As part of the project, the trading area will soon be paved and fenced to create a well-defined market space. Construction of an ablution facility is already underway, ensuring that vendors and their customers have access to essential sanitation facilities.
The initiative is expected to contribute to better management of informal trading activities, promote hygiene and enhance the shopping experience for residents who rely on the market for fresh produce.

Hwange Local Board Engages in National Budget Consultation

Hwange Local Board management and Chairperson Councillor Peterson Ncube today participated in the District National Budget Education and Consultation Campaign conducted by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion and Parliament of Zimbabwe in Hwange.
The engagement provided an important platform for local stakeholders to contribute to the national budget formulation process by highlighting the needs, priorities and development aspirations of the Hwange district.
The consultation also offered an opportunity for stakeholders to share perspectives on key areas requiring greater attention and investment, including local infrastructure, service delivery, community development and sustainable economic growth.

Ward 3 Councillor Bryn Chikumbo pushes for action on power station emissions
Ward 3 Councillor Bryn Chikumbo yesterday met with senior executives from the Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), together with the Ingagula Residents Chairperson, to push for practical measures to mitigate the impact of power station emissions on residents.
The engagement focused on the concerns being raised by communities living in the vicinity of the power station, particularly the effects of emissions on the health, wellbeing and quality of life of residents.
Councillor Chikumbo emphasised the need for stronger cooperation between the power company, local authorities and residents to ensure that economic activity and energy production do not come at the expense of the surrounding community.
Among the issues requiring attention are improved monitoring of emissions, strengthened mitigation measures, regular engagement with affected residents and greater transparency in communicating environmental and public-health concerns.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that residents’ concerns are placed firmly on the table and that responsible authorities take concrete steps to address them.

Construction Update: New School at Dynamic Village

Although the Empumalanga Sewer Treatment Plant has been out of service for some time, Hwange Local Board continues to keep the facility under care and maintenance as preparations for its rehabilitation progress.
This ongoing effort is an important step towards restoring the plant to full functionality and strengthening wastewater management in the area. A rehabilitated sewer treatment facility will contribute to improved sanitation, better environmental protection, and a healthier community.
Council remains committed to safeguarding the facility while working towards its rehabilitation and eventual restoration to service.

Nengasha Stadium Reconstruction Takes Shape
Work on the reconstruction of Hwange Local Board’s Nengasha Stadium is progressing well, with key preparatory activities now underway.
Physical Planners are on the ground re-pegging the site, while the architectural plan for the facility is already in place. This marks an important step towards transforming Nengasha Stadium into a modern sporting facility that will provide a better environment for athletes, football fans and the wider community.
