*Steady Hands, Measurable Gains: President Mnangagwa’s Economic Turnaround*
Zimbabwe’s economic stabilisation under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is increasingly evident, with the achievement of a single-digit inflation rate standing out as a critical milestone. This development has restored a measure of predictability to the economy, easing pressure on households and businesses while rebuilding confidence in policy direction. Inflation control has provided the foundation upon which broader growth initiatives are now taking root, signalling a shift from crisis management to structured, forward-looking development.
Anchored on this stability is an ambitious infrastructure drive that is reshaping the national landscape. Massive investments in road construction, dam works, bridges and urban renewal are improving connectivity, reducing the cost of doing business and unlocking productive potential across provinces. Equally important is the refurbishment and modernisation of government hospitals, a process in which domestic firms such as Prevail Group have played a pivotal role. These upgrades are strengthening public healthcare delivery, improving working conditions for medical staff, and restoring dignity and access for ordinary citizens.
The administration’s deliberate policy of promoting local content has further amplified economic gains. By awarding tenders to domestic companies in critical sectors such as river rehabilitation and road construction, government is retaining value within the economy while building national industrial capacity. River rehabilitation programmes are restoring degraded ecosystems, safeguarding water security, and protecting agricultural livelihoods, all while creating jobs for communities affected by climate change and past environmental damage.
Employment creation and enterprise growth are also being accelerated through Presidential Empowerment Programmes designed to support small businesses, cooperatives and emerging entrepreneurs. These initiatives are injecting capital into grassroots economic activity, stimulating demand, and nurturing a resilient base of local producers. In rural areas, empowerment schemes are transforming livelihoods, reducing vulnerability, and anchoring development where it matters most—at community level.
Taken together, these interventions reflect a coherent development agenda: stabilise the economy, invest in infrastructure, empower local industry, and build resilience from the bottom up. The cumulative impact is a growing, more inclusive economy aligned with Vision 2030—one that prioritises sovereignty, sustainability and shared prosperity. Under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, Zimbabwe is steadily laying the bricks of long-term growth, with tangible benefits already being felt across sectors and regions.
