This is how bad things have become in Zimbabwe’s public healthcare system, particularly at its largest hospital.

The black bag you see in the basket contains medical consumables bought by a patient going into theatre for a surgical operation at Sally Mugabe Hospital, formerly known as Harare Hospital.
The patient is being wheeled into the theater with broken windows held together with plastics and sellotape.

Patients who come here are from desperately poor families across the country.
This is a public hospital that should have all the necessary medical consumables available.

Doctors tell me that if patients do not have money to buy these basics, they will simply die.

They buy their own urinary catheter, dressings, bandages, and antibiotics.
The situation is now dire and unacceptable.

This is the situation across the country. Sadly, the political class is not bothered and does not even discuss it, while the citizens have resigned themselves to their fate.

Many people have been asking me why the Zimbabwean tyrant, Emmerson Mnangagwa, swapped Frederick Shava with Amon Murwira, moving Shava from Foreign Affairs to Education.

I didn’t know either, but after some investigation, the common thread emerging is that Mnangagwa is preparing for the possibility that, if he doesn’t secure a third term, he would prefer someone other than his Vice President to take over, just as Robert Mugabe was prepared to have someone other than his deputy, Mnangagwa, succeed him.

The idea behind moving Shava from Foreign Affairs, which requires extensive travel, is so that he can focus on domestic issues in preparation for that potential bid, should Mnangagwa’s third term bid fail.

Mnangagwa and Shava are the only cabinet ministers from the 1980s still active in politics today and in cabinet.
Shava carries the baggage of the Willowvale scandal, but that pales in comparison to the deep corruption in Zimbabwe today.

The Willowvale scandal, also known as the Willowgate scandal, was a significant event in Zimbabwe's political history that occurred in the late 1980s.

It involved high ranking government officials, including Frederick Shava who was a minister, who were implicated in corrupt activities related to the illegal resale of vehicles.
The scandal resulted in the resignations of five members of President Robert Mugabe's cabinet, one of them, Maurice Nyagumbo, committee su***de.

I wonder what he would have thought of today’s industrial looting under Mnangagwa, the poor guy died because of just a car.

Let us see how things pan out as we are not far from the moment of truth.

*[🌕] US targets ZimElection2023 Riggers*

For the first time, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) officials have been targeted by the United States for brazenly rigging elections.

Zec has become an election- rigging machine for Zanu PF and its leaders, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Singlehandedly, Zec has kept Mnangagwa in power since he came in through a coup in 2017.

The deceitful and incompetent electoral body rigged the recent general elections in broad daylight, with unprecedented voter suppression in Harare to stop main opposition CCC and its leader Nelson Chamisa from winning.

The polls were characterised by irregularities, illegalities and massive disenfranchisement.

Even the Southern African Development Community refused to endorse the outcome even though there is an attempt in Harare to gloss over the fraud and sweep the issue under the fraud.

Now, Zanu PF is using or capitalising on opposition activist Sengezo Tshabangu - who has become a "useful idiot" to the regime - to try to decimated the opposition, further undermining democracy.

As a result, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is going after those who rig elections, undermine democracy and exacerbate people's suffering.

Zec commissioners working under its chairperson Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba and their family members are a major target of US visa sanctions.

🟡Our citizens are currently facing significant hardships, struggling to afford basic necessities due to the regime's economic mismanagement. Instead of alleviating the burden on our people, the regime is worsening their suffering through excessive taxation. One example is the substantial increase in toll fees, which have risen by over 150%. Motorists traveling between Harare and Bulawayo will now be required to pay a minimum of USD50 in toll fees for a round trip.

Former Harare East legislator Honourable Tendai Biti speaks on the budget.

“The just presented 2024 Budget is a shocking parody of fascism, extraction, dishonesty, incompetence & down right narcissism.

The 2024 Budget reflects a regime totally oblivious of the structural challenges facing the economy ,the plight of the ordinary citizen ,the myriad issues affecting business.

The Budget betrays lack of respect of economic fundamentals &as a result it’s prescriptions are a disastrous panalopy of cruel extractive illegal if not unconstitutional measures.This a budget that reflects a regime with total contempt of its subjects..

The imposition of a massive array of taxes on a population mulcited by poverty&social challenges is reflective of this anti -citizen polity.

The increase in toll gate charges, passport fees, duty on soft drinks, vehicle registration, Fuel levy are narcissistic & unnecessary.

The proposed Government take over of Third Party insurance is clearly unconstitutional & zany.

The massive removal of VAT zero rating on all goods except exports & medicines will hurt the poor & elderly as will the removal of duty suspension on basic goods.

The powers given to the Zimbabwe Revenue authority of temporary shutting down businesses, seizing storage devices, raiding custody vaults at Banks, seizure of goods , seizure of digital data, without due process are fascist & unconstitutional.

These measures can’t stand legal scrutiny The introduction of a 1 % tax on people s homes above $100 000 is another ill thought measure that will hurt innocent home owners & struggling working people.

After all capital gains, rates & stamp duties are already being paid by homeowners. Structural the Budget is technically unsound.

Failure to express the same inUS$ makes the same lose any decency or credibility. Further the budget grossly hides huge budget deficit created in 2023 which will be reflected in a condonation Bill that will come 2 years from now.
