Report on the Mayor’s Visit to Private Clinics and Hospitals in Winsor Park, Ruwa
Date 22 May 2026

Today, His Worship the Mayor of Ruwa, Councillor Micheal Mataruka, conducted a tour of several private clinics and hospitals located in Winsor Park, Ruwa, to appreciate the vital role being played by private health institutions in complementing council health services. The visit was also aimed at assessing the quality of services being offered to residents and understanding how these institutions are helping to bridge the healthcare gap caused by the shortage of council-owned hospitals and clinics in and around Ruwa.
During the tour, the Mayor visited six medical institutions to gain first-hand knowledge of their operations, facilities, and standards of service delivery. The visit demonstrated the municipality’s commitment to improving healthcare access and strengthening partnerships with private healthcare providers.

Visit to CIMAS Clinic
The Mayor began his tour at CIMAS Clinic, located in the industrial area of Ruwa. The clinic offers a wide range of quality healthcare services, including dental care, pharmacy services, and laboratory services. The institution also accepts medical aid schemes, making healthcare more accessible to residents.
Mayor Mataruka expressed satisfaction with the professionalism of the staff and the quality of services being offered at the clinic. He commended the institution for contributing significantly towards healthcare provision within the community.

Visit to Eaden Hospital
The Mayor also toured Eaden Hospital, which offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services supported by modern, world-class medical equipment. The hospital provides exceptional healthcare services to the community and operates a fully stocked pharmacy that enables patients to conveniently access medication after consultation.
The maternity ward at Eaden Hospital was particularly impressive, as it provides comprehensive maternal healthcare services, including care for premature babies and mother care services. Ambulance services are available at all times to respond promptly to emergencies.
The hospital is capable of admitting patients with varying medical conditions, including those requiring critical care. It has private wards, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities, and High Dependency Unit (HDU) services, enabling the institution to manage severe and complex medical cases. In addition, the hospital operates a fully functional theatre and a state-of-the-art laboratory for disease diagnosis and medical testing.
Hospital management also highlighted that they are in the process of procuring oxygen-generating equipment, which will reduce dependence on purchased oxygen supplies and improve the hospital’s capacity to manage critical cases efficiently.
Mayor Mataruka applauded Eaden Hospital for its outstanding healthcare services and noted that many residents still travel to Harare for treatment due to a lack of awareness that such advanced medical services are readily available in Ruwa. He encouraged the institution to continue providing quality healthcare while increasing public awareness of the services offered.

Visit to Winsor 24-Hour Clinic
As part of the tour, the Mayor visited Windsor 24-Hour Clinic to assess the healthcare services being offered by private medical practitioners in the area. He was pleased to learn that the clinic operates around the clock, providing continuous healthcare services to the community.
The clinic offers pharmacy services with a wide range of medicines readily available for patients after medical consultation. It also provides maternity services
The clinic admits patients for short-term stabilisation and transfers critical cases to larger medical institutions where necessary. Mayor Mataruka commended the clinic for ensuring uninterrupted healthcare service delivery through its 24-hour operations.

Visit to Ruwa Family Clinic
The Mayor also visited Ruwa Family Clinic, one of the longest-serving medical facilities in Ruwa, which has been operating successfully for the past 25 years. The clinic has earned the trust and confidence of residents through consistent and reliable healthcare service delivery.
The clinic accepts various medical aid schemes and offers a wide range of services, including family planning, wound dressing, plaster application, and other procedural medical services. The institution operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m, providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the community.

Cases requiring advanced rehabilitation procedures are referred to the National Rehabilitation Centre. The clinic does not admit patients but focuses primarily on outpatient rehabilitation and therapy services.
Mayor Mataruka acknowledged the importance of rehabilitation services and encouraged greater public awareness so that more residents can benefit from the facility.

Visit to Dr Chikosho Dental Clinic
The final stop of the tour was Dr Chikosho Dental Clinic, which offers comprehensive dental services and procedures. The Mayor expressed appreciation for the availability of specialised dental care services within Ruwa.
