The Honourable Minister Hon Tatenda Mavetera stated that she was honoured to have been invited as the Guest Speaker at the Ministry of Justice, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service Parole and Reintegration Regional Conference. She said she had shared their vision for the digital transformation of Zimbabwe's correctional services, focusing on the digitalisation of the national prisoners' database and the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into prison management systems.
The Minister emphasised that as the Ministry of ICT, they were a cross-cutting enabler, committed to driving digitisation across all sectors of government. She noted that while they celebrated the success of their Integrated Case Management System, they recognised the need for continual upgrades to align with global technological advancements.
The Minister also highlighted their ongoing work in promoting digital inclusion, specifically mentioning the She Tech initiative, under the patronage of the First Lady, Dr. A. Mnangagwa. She said they had established Digital Skills Centres at Marondera Prison and the newly completed Chikurubi Maximum Prison, which would ensure that inmates were not left behind in acquiring essential digital skills for reintegration into society.
She concluded that together, they were building a smarter, more efficient justice system - one that rehabilitated, empowered, and prepared individuals for a productive future.
