Victoria Falls played host to ICT leaders, regulators and policymakers from across Africa this week during the ITU Regional Development Forum for Africa. The discussions focused on advancing connectivity, digital inclusion and innovation across the continent. The forum was chaired by Dr G.K. Machengete, Director General of POTRAZ.

Today, the International Girls in ICT Day commemorations were held at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo, bringing together over 1,500 students from schools and colleges across Bulawayo and Matabeleland. Celebrated annually, International Girls in ICT Day seeks to inspire and encourage girls and young women to pursue studies and careers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). This year’s celebrations strongly emphasized the importance of empowering girls to move beyond being consumers of technology to becoming creators, innovators and leaders in the digital economy. The event provided a platform to inspire the next generation of female tech pioneers.

FIRST – POTRAZ Technical Colloquium Day 2: The day kicked off with the continuation of the live cyber drill; an intensive, hands-on exercise designed to simulate real-world cyber incidents. The cyber drill provides a secure and structured environment for organisations to assess and strengthen their ability to detect, respond to and recover from cyber threats. The official opening ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Minister of ICT, Postal & Courier Services, Hon. Dingumuzi Phuti, and POTRAZ Director General, Dr G.K. Machengete, and they both emphasised that cybersecurity is not only a technological issue, but a matter of national security, economic stability and public trust.
