Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), in partnership with the Business Councils of Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, hosted a private business gathering on 8 September 2026 titled 'Expanding From Southeast Asia Through Dubai'. The event brought together Ambassadors, Business Council representatives, and business leaders in Dubai for a networking and discussion session focussed on business expansion through Dubai.

Ambassador Kamal R Vaswani and Consul Chua Si Hao were pleased to attend the event, hosted by DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem. A panel discussion was held with representatives from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, providing candid insights for companies looking to expand from Southeast Asia to the UAE.

We look forward to supporting more such engagements that promote greater business links between the two countries and regions!

Singapore reiterates that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law.

The proposed construction of residential settlements in the E1 area would further fragment the West Bank and severely undermine the prospects for a viable two-State solution.

Singapore urges the Israeli government to halt these settlement expansion plans.

Singapore is also deeply concerned by the increase in acts of settler violence against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank. We call on the Israeli government to take firm action to prevent such violence and to hold those responsible accountable.

A negotiated two-State solution, consistent with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, remains the only viable pathway to a comprehensive, just, and durable peace.

The Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate-General in Dubai will be closed on Friday, 28 August 2026, which is a public holiday in the UAE.

PM Lawrence Wong delivered his National Day Rally on 23 August 2026. He spoke about a changing world where the rules and norms that underpinned stability and prosperity for decades are being over-turned. The world is also witnessing more pressure below the threshold of open war, such as economic coercion, foreign interference, disinformation campaigns, and cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure.

PM Wong said that Singapore will continue building on the trust that countries have in us and deepen our links with the world. As we take on the ASEAN Chairmanship next year, Singapore will strive to strengthen ASEAN centrality and unity, deepen regional integration, and make ASEAN a more effective single market. We will also strengthen partnerships beyond our region – bring diverse partners together, build common ground, and keep channels for dialogue and cooperation open.

PM also spoke about harnessing the power of new technology, giving families greater support and confidence for the future, staying open and connected while keeping our society cohesive and united, as well as planning and building for the long term.

The Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi was pleased to support the working visit of Deputy Secretary (Policy) at the Singapore Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (BG) Frederick Choo to Abu Dhabi from 13 to 14 August 2026.

During the visit, BG Choo met His Excellency Staff Lieutenant General (SLG) Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Defence, where they exchanged views on regional developments and discussed bilateral defence cooperation. In addition, BG Choo delivered a presentation on Singapore’s Total Defence framework at the UAE National Defence College with the audience comprising Emirati military and security officials. The visit also included a meeting with EDGE, and a visit to some of its facilities at Tawazun Industrial Park.

Defence is one of the pillars of the Singapore-UAE Comprehensive Partnership, and we look forward to strengthening ties in this area.

التقى معالي الفريق الركن إبراهيم ناصر العلوي، وكيل وزارة الدفاع، العميد فريدريك تشو، نائب السكرتير للسياسات في وزارة الدفاع بجمهورية سنغافورة، وذلك في إطار تعزيز علاقات التعاون والتنسيق الدفاعي بين البلدين.

وجرى خلال اللقاء استعراض عدد من الموضوعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك، وبحث سبل تطوير التعاون في المجالات الدفاعية، إلى جانب تبادل وجهات النظر حول عدد من القضايا الإقليمية والدولية ذات الصلة، بما يسهم في دعم الأمن والاستقرار وتعزيز الشراكة بين الجانبين.

وأكد الجانبان على أهمية مواصلة التنسيق وتبادل الخبرات، بما يعزز أوجه التعاون الدفاعي ويخدم المصالح المشتركة.

His Excellency Staff Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, met with the Brigadier Frederick Choo, Deputy Secretary for Policies at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Singapore, as part of efforts to strengthen defence cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

During the meeting, a number of topics of mutual interest were reviewed, and ways to develop cooperation in defence fields were discussed. Views were also exchanged on several relevant regional and international developments, contributing to supporting security and stability and strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and exchanging expertise to enhance defence cooperation and serve their common interests.
