Yesterday marked the beginning of a new chapter at the Embassy of Ireland.

Ambassador Mythen was honoured to present his credentials to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, which marks the official beginning of his posting in Abu Dhabi.

The ceremony took place at Qasr Al Watan, the Presidential Palace. Ambassador Mythen conveyed the warm wishes of the President and Government of Ireland, and expressed Ireland’s friendship and solidarity with the UAE and its people following the challenges faced in the region earlier this year.

Ambassador Mythen’s appointment comes at an exciting time in relations between Ireland and the Gulf, and he looks forward to working with our Emirati partners to further strengthen ties between Ireland and the UAE, as well as engaging with the Irish community in the region.

We are delighted to share a welcome message from our new Ambassador to the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, Fergal Mythen.

Ambassador Mythen joins us from his previous post as Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

As he begins his posting in the UAE, Ambassador Mythen looks forward to connecting with the vibrant Irish community across the region. He looks forward to meeting you, hearing your stories, and seeing first-hand the incredible work you are all doing.

Today, the Embassy bids a fond farewell to our colleague and friend, Consul David Moore.

Over the past three years, Dave has been a dedicated member of our team, working tirelessly to strengthen the ties between Ireland and the UAE. While we are sad to see him go, we are incredibly proud of his contributions and the impact he has made during his time here.

Dave is heading back to Ireland to begin a new professional chapter this coming Monday. We wish him the very best of luck in his new post and look forward to seeing all that he will achieve.

Thank you for everything Dave, you will be missed! 🇮🇪🇦🇪
