Last night, we launched the first-ever European Film Festival in Ras Al Khaimah with .ae in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
In her opening remarks, Her Excellency Lucie Berger, EU Ambassador to the UAE, said: “This initiative reflects the growing partnership between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates, built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a belief in the importance of cultural exchange as a bridge between people.”
Audiences then enjoyed the screening of the Maltese film The Theft of the Caravaggio, a mystery drama exploring the importance of art, identity and family.
The European Film Festival continues in Ras Al Khaimah throughout the week until 6 June, with daily screenings of European and Emirati films.

أطلقنا مساء أمس، بالتعاون مع فن رأس الخيمة، أول نسخة من مهرجان الفيلم الأوروبي في رأس الخيمة، بحضور صاحب السمو الشيخ سعود بن صقر القاسمي، عضو المجلس الأعلى حاكم رأس الخيمة.
وفي كلمتها الافتتاحية، قالت سعادة لوسي بيرجر، سفيرة الاتحاد الأوروبي لدى دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة: «تعكس هذه المبادرة الشراكة المتنامية بين الاتحاد الأوروبي ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، القائمة على الاحترام المتبادل والمصالح المشتركة والإيمان بأهمية التبادل الثقافي كجسر يربط بين الشعوب.»
واستمتع الحضور بعد ذلك بعرض الفيلم المالطي "سرقة كارافاجيو"، وهو فيلم درامي غامض يستكشف أهمية الفن والهوية والعائلة.
ويستمر مهرجان الفيلم الأوروبي في رأس الخيمة طوال الأسبوع حتى 6 يونيو، مع عروض يومية لأفلام أوروبية وإماراتية.
