The National Library and Archives: One of most comprehensive archives worldwide, aims to strengthen the sense of unity and national identity and is entrusted with collecting, documenting and translating valuable historical material relating to the United Arab Emirates in particular and the Arabian Gulf states in general. In just fifty-four years; the National Library and Archives has achieved a pioneer status, owing to its use of cutting-edge technology to carry out its mandate. It is one of the UAE's oldest documentation and archiving institutions and the largest documentation center in the Gulf region.

نظّم الأرشيف والمكتبة الوطنية ورشة فنية ضمن مشاركته في معرض أبوظبي الدولي للصيد والفروسية، في إطار المشروع المجتمعي التفاعلي (X71) الذي يأتي هذا العام تحت عنوان "النزهات العائلية"، ويسلّط الضوء على أهمية الأسرة في ترسيخ الوعي المجتمعي، صون القيم الوطنية، وتمكين الترابط بين الأجيال.

أُقيمت الورشة بالتعاون مع طلبة برنامج "وطني إبداعي" التابع لدائرة التعليم والمعرفة، بهدف دعم الإبداع الطلابي وتعزيز المشاركة المجتمعية.

نواصل في الأرشيف والمكتبة الوطنية تمكين الأجيال الشابة لتعزيز ارتباطها بالهوية الوطنية نحو بناء مجتمع متماسك ومتطوّر.

The National Library and Archives organised an art workshop during its participation in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, as part of the Interactive Community Project X71, which is being held this year under the theme “Family Outings”. The project highlights the importance of family in fostering community awareness, preserving national values and strengthening connections between generations.

The workshop was held in collaboration with students from the “Watani Ibdaai” programme, organised by the Department of Education and Knowledge, with the aim of supporting student creativity and enhancing community participation.

At the NLA, we continue to empower younger generations, strengthening their connection to national identity and contributing to building a cohesive and progressive society.

إليكم لمحة من مشاركة الأرشيف والمكتبة الوطنية في معرض أبوظبي الدولي للصيد والفروسية 2026، من خلال جناحه الذي يوثّق اهتمام دولة الإمارات بالرياضات التراثية عبر العديد من الصور والوثائق التاريخية والأفلام الوثائقية، التي توثق رحلات الصيد بالصقور وسباقات الخيل والهجن.

كما يستعرض الجناح نماذج من الأسلحة التراثية بالتعاون مع القيادة العامة لشرطة أبوظبي ممثلةً بالموروث الشرطي، بالإضافة إلى إصدارات تبرز محطات من تاريخ الدولة وموروثها الأصيل.

Here’s a glimpse of the National Library and Archives’ participation in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2026, through its pavilion showcasing the UAE’s enduring connection to traditional sports through historical photographs, documents and documentaries documenting falconry expeditions and horse and camel racing.

The pavilion also features traditional weapons in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by Police Heritage, alongside publications highlighting key chapters from the UAE’s history and its rich heritage.

نشارككم جانباً من تاريخ الإمارات وتراثها في جناح الأرشيف والمكتبة الوطنية ضمن معرض أبوظبي الدولي للصيد والفروسية 2026.

استكشفوا الرياضات التراثية، واطّلعوا على نماذج من الأسلحة التي كانت تُستخدم في الحصون والقلاع والسفن، إلى جانب مجموعة من الإصدارات والوثائق التاريخية التي تسلّط الضوء على محطات من مسيرة الدولة وموروثها الثقافي الأصيل.

بانتظاركم لغاية 6 سبتمبر في جناحنا رقم 085-5 في القاعة 5، لنعيش تجربة تفاعلية تجمع بين التاريخ والتراث، ونتشارك خلالها قصصاً من إرثنا العريق.

We share a glimpse into the UAE’s history and heritage at the National Library and Archives’ pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2026.

Explore traditional sports and discover examples of weapons once used in forts, castles and ships, alongside publications and historical documents highlighting key chapters in the UAE’s journey and its rich cultural heritage.

يأتي يوم المرأة الإماراتية احتفاءً بمسيرةٍ حافلةٍ بالعطاء، رسّخت خلالها المرأة الإماراتية دورها في نهضة الوطن، وأسهمت في بناء مجتمعٍ أكثر تقدماً، والمضي قدماً نحو صناعة المستقبل. ونفخر بما حققته من إنجازاتٍ على مختلف الأصعدة، بما يجسّد إيمان دولة الإمارات بأن تمكين المرأة هو تمكينٌ للمجتمع بأكمله.

نشارككم مقتطفاً من كلمة للوالد المؤسس، المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، طيّب الله ثراه، تبرز رؤيته حول الدور الاجتماعي والثقافي والحضاري للمرأة الإماراتية، وإيمانه بأهمية دعمها وتمكينها لتواصل اليوم مسيرتها كشريك أساسي في التنمية وبناء الوطن وصناعة مستقبله.⁣

وقد تجسّد هذا النهج بدايةً بافتتاح جمعية نهضة المرأة الظبيانية في 8 نوفمبر 1973م، في خطوة مهمة نحو تعزيز مشاركة المرأة وتشجيع إسهاماتها في مختلف المجالات.

We share an excerpt from a speech by The UAE’s Founding Father, The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, reflecting his vision of the social, cultural and civilisational role of Emirati women.

It also reflects his belief in the importance of supporting and empowering women to continue their journey as key partners in development, nation-building and shaping the UAE’s future.

This approach was first reflected in the opening of the General Women’s Union on 8 November 1973, marking an important step towards strengthening women’s participation and encouraging their contributions across various fields.

توثق الصفحة من صحيفة الاتحاد، افتتاح جمعية المرأة الظبيانية من قبل سموّ الشيخة فاطمة بنت مبارك، "أم الإمارات"، والتي تُعد أول جمعية للمرأة في تاريخ دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، بتاريخ 11 فبراير 1973، في محطةٍ تعكس الاهتمام المبكر بتمكين المرأة وتعزيز دورها في مختلف المجالات.

نشارككم صورة تاريخية توثق الوالد المؤسس، المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، طيّب الله ثراه، أثناء افتتاحه المبنى الجديد لمركز الصناعات البيئية واليدوية، في مقر الاتحاد النسائي العام، يرافقه الشيخ سلطان بن زايد آل نهيان، في إمارة أبوظبي، بتاريخ 31 ديسمبر 1986م، في مشهد يعكس اهتمامه بدعم المرأة الإماراتية وتعزيز حضورها ودورها في المجتمع.

تعبر هذه المناسبة عن النهج الذي أرساه الوالد المؤسس في دعم المرأة ومنحها الفرص للمشاركة الفعّالة في مسيرة التنمية. وتواصل المرأة الإماراتية من خلال هذا النهج تعزيز دورها ومساهماتها في مختلف المجالات.

We share a historical photograph of The UAE's Founding Father, The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, inaugurating the Center for Environmental and Handicrafts Industries’ new building, at the General Women's Union headquarters, accompanied by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on 31 December 1986. The photograph reflects his commitment to supporting Emirati women and strengthening their presence and role in society.

احتفاءً بيوم المرأة الإماراتية وانسجاماً مع عام الأسرة، يسرّ إدارة البحوث والخدمات المعرفية في الأرشيف والمكتبة الوطنية دعوتكم لحضور محاضرة افتراضية بعنوان "المرأة الإماراتية: دور المبروكة في مجتمع الإمارات"، تقدّمها السيدة كاملة الدرعي، أخصائي أول نشر، وذلك يوم الخميس الموافق 27 أغسطس 2026، الساعة 10 صباحاً عبر منصة زوم.

تُقدَّم المحاضرة باللغة العربية، وتتناول دور المرأة الإماراتية وإسهاماتها في المجتمع، مسلّطةً الضوء على مكانتها بوصفها قائدةً وملهمةً وشريكاً فاعلاً في بناء الهوية الوطنية ودعم مسيرة التنمية.

To mark Emirati Women’s Day and in line with the Year of Family, the National Library and Archives’ Research and Knowledge Services Department invites you to attend a virtual lecture titled "The Role of the Emirati Elderly Women in the Society", presented by Mrs Kamla Al Derei, Senior Publishing Specialist.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at 10:00AM via Zoom and will be delivered in Arabic. It will explore the role and contributions of Emirati women in society, highlighting their position as leaders, sources of inspiration and active partners in strengthening national identity and supporting the UAE’s development.

تجسّد الفروسية جزءاً أصيلاً من التراث الإماراتي، وقد أسهم شيوخ دولة الإمارات عبر الأجيال، في ترسيخ رياضة الفروسية وتعزيز حضورها على المستويين المحلي والدولي.

تُظهر الصورة سمو الشيخ منصور بن زايد آل نهيان، أثناء مشاركته في سباق كأس تحدي العمالقة للقدرة، الذي أقيم بميادين القرية العالمية للقدرة بمنطقة الوثبة في إمارة أبوظبي، بتاريخ 4 مارس 2013م.
