Engineering solutions: hidden fasteners – invisible, but important
The playground equipment installation season is in full swing, and right now every detail on the site matters. Especially the ones you can’t see.
We’re talking about hidden fasteners – a solution we use on some Leber projects. Visually, they’re almost invisible, but it’s precisely these engineering choices that create well-thought-out equipment.
Typically, bolts, nuts, and screws are visible on the surface. We try to hide them — inside beam ends, behind decorative caps, within the frame itself. This is more difficult to assemble and requires more precise cutting, but the result is worth it.
⚫️ Safer for children. Exposed fasteners create a risk of snagging or injury. Hidden fasteners eliminate this risk.
⚫️ Less corrosion. When fasteners are protected from rain and snow, they don’t rust. Even years later, the bolts inside a beam stay dry – and that affects the durability of the entire structure.
⚫️ Cleaner appearance. The playground looks more premium and well-maintained. No rust stains from screws, no protruding nuts ruining the visual.
⚫️ Harder to vandalize. Hidden fasteners are more difficult to loosen with a basic tool or to break off — simply because they’re harder to reach. That’s a plus for vandal resistance.
