The Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) was established in 2006 by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as an independent government department. Sharjah Museums includes 16 museums covering Islamic art and culture, archaeology, heritage, science, marine life and the history of Sharjah and the region. The purpose of the Sharjah Museums Depa

rtment is to be a cultural beacon that enhances Sharjah’ s identity locally and internationally and contribute in nurturing a community aware of museums’ importance as a cultural, educational and enjoyable destination.

Sharjah Maritime Museum participated in the Al Maleh and Fishing Festival in Dibba Al Hisn, celebrating the tradition of Al Maleh, an integral part of Emirati maritime heritage. The museum showcased the methods used to prepare and preserve it, along with the knowledge passed down through generations.

وتؤكد سعادة ميساء سيف السويدي، مدير عام هيئة الشارقة للمتاحف، أهمية دور المرأة الإماراتية في صون التراث، وترسيخ الهوية الوطنية، والإسهام في بناء جسور المعرفة التي تصل إرث الماضي بأجيال المستقبل.
