Lincoln Learning Center Bamyan Lincoln Learning Centers, known as American Corners in most of the world, are partnerships between the Public Affairs section of the U.S. public library.

Embassy - Kabul and the Afghan government. They provide access to current and reliable information about the U.S. via multi-media, book collections, the Internet and programming for the general public. The Centers are open, accessible and free-of-charge. Space is made available to host program events and activities (i.e. author readings, films, speaker programs, workshops, films, meetings, and exh

ibits). Locally hired personnel staff the Centers. Sponsored jointly by the Embassy and a host institution, LLCs offer services similar to a U.S. Its primary function is to make information about the United States available to the public through Internet access, print resources, audio and video products, DVDs and CD-ROMs. Examples of the programs run at Afghanistan's Lincoln Learning Centers are English conversation clubs, Internet courses, events for UN international days, speakers on Muslim life in America, web chats and screenings of American movies and documentaries.
