Message of Director
—————————————————-
On the occasion of “ World Heart Day – 29 September 2025”
Good morning everyone,
It is an honor to share my views with you today on World Heart Day 2025, a day dedicated to the most extraordinary organ in our body—the heart.
This year’s theme, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” carries a powerful message. It reminds us that every heartbeat is precious, every check-up matters, and every step we take toward prevention can save lives.
As a cardiac surgeon, I see firsthand the toll heart disease takes on individuals and families. Too often, patients come to us only after symptoms become severe—chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue. But the truth is: heart disease develops silently, sometimes for years. That is why we must not miss the warning signs, and more importantly, we must not miss the chance to prevent them.
Globally, cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death, taking millions of lives each year. Yet, so many of these tragedies are avoidable. Simple choices—like exercising regularly, eating less salt and sugar, quitting to***co, managing stress, and going for regular health checks—can prevent heart attacks and strokes.
“Don’t Miss a Beat” is not just about the rhythm of the heart; it is about the rhythm of life.
• Don’t miss a beat with your health check-ups—know your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
• Don’t miss a beat with your lifestyle—stay active, eat smart, and give your heart the care it deserves.
• Don’t miss a beat with your loved ones—encourage them, support them, and live together with healthy hearts.
In the operating theater, I can replace valves, open blocked arteries, and restart a heart that has stopped. But the greatest surgery is the one that never has to happen—because prevention worked.
So today, let us make a promise: to listen to our hearts, care for them daily, to ensure that none of us nor our families ever “miss a beat”
Thank you and may we all live with healthier and stronger hearts.
