In order to support the commitment made by the Government of Afghanistan to implementing SAIEVAC, and recognizing the technical expertise and involvement of a broad variety of civil society organisations and United Nations agencies in combating violence against children, the Child Rights Consortium has established a National Action and Coordination Group Against Violence Against Children (NACG) in
Afghanistan. This group provides technical input into the formulation of national strategies for the implementation of SAIEVAC and facilitates necessary coordination with non-governmental organisations and multilateral agencies. At the regional level, the NACG is building a cooperative relationship with the South Asia Coordination Group on Action against Violence against Women and Children (SACG) in order to contribute to, and benefit from, regional experiences in work combating violence against children. Given the large number of coordination groups and taskforces already operating in Afghanistan, the NACG has been designed as an action oriented forum. A small number of workshop-style meetings are planned for each year of the work plan, with specific outputs identified beforehand. The NACG comprises a broad cross-section of international and local non-governmental organisations working to combat violence against children, as well as concerned United Nations agencies and children s representatives.
