The Ambassador of Pakistan welcomed honorable Senator Jorge Capitanich and Senator Marcelo M. Lewandowski, Chair and vice chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Asia of the Argentine Parliament, for a productive meeting on 02 July 2026.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Argentina and the shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.

The discussions focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation as an important pillar of the bilateral relationship. Both sides exchanged views on promoting closer engagement between the legislatures of Pakistan and Argentina through regular interactions, exchanges of parliamentary delegations, and stronger collaboration between the respective Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

The Ambassador highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to parliamentary diplomacy and welcomed greater interaction between legislators of the two countries. The participants also discussed opportunities to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation by encouraging closer engagement between the business communities and exploring new areas of commercial partnership.

The two sides also exchanged views on facilitating a visit by an Argentine parliamentary delegation to Pakistan in the near future. They further agreed to work towards strengthening institutional links by extending an invitation to the Parliamentary Friendship Group from Pakistan to visit Argentina, with the aim of fostering greater mutual understanding and expanding cooperation in areas of common interest.

Ambassador Hassan Afzal Khan, accompanied by officers of the Embassy of Pakistan in Buenos Aires, participated in the Pakistan–Florencio Varela Business Negotiation Round organized by the Municipality of Florencio Varela and the Ministry of Production of the Province of Buenos Aires.

The delegation was warmly received by Mayor Andrés Watson and Secretary Ricardo de la Fuente. The event brought together provincial authorities, importers, business representatives, and companies from a wide range of sectors.

In the opening session, Ambassador Hassan appreciated the Municipality’s initiative and highlighted the immense potential for Pakistan–Argentina cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and tourism. This was followed by a presentation by the Embassy showcasing Pakistan’s trade and investment opportunities.

Addressing the participants, Mayor Andrés Watson highlighted Florencio Varela’s growing role as an industrial hub of the Province of Buenos Aires and expressed his interest in developing long-term commercial relations with Pakistan.

A major attraction of the event was the display of the Made-in-Pakistan FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball “TRIONDA”. The Embassy also showcased promotional material for Pakistan’s export sectors, including brochures for the 4th FoodAg Exhibition 2026, to be organized by TDAP in Karachi from 23–26th November 2026, and invited Argentine food companies and importers to participate.

On the occasion, the Embassy of Pakistan and the Municipality of Florencio Varela signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on business and trade cooperation, signed by Ambassador Hassan Afzal Khan and Mayor Andrés Watson, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting bilateral trade.

The subsequent business negotiation round facilitated productive B2B engagements with companies expressing interest in importing Pakistani textiles, fabrics, sports goods, food products, guar gum, and hosiery. The Municipality also arranged visits to the industrial facilities of M/s Elemento and M/s ISI Argentina, providing valuable insights into the region’s industrial capabilities.

The event served as an excellent platform to showcase Pakistan’s economic potential, strengthen institutional linkages, and foster long-term business partnerships between Pakistan and Argentina.

Strengthening Pakistan–Chile Economic Ties 🇵🇰🇨🇱

During the fourth week of June 2026, Ambassador Hassan Afzal Khan, accompanied by Trade & Investment Counsellor Ms. Nazish Sami, undertook an official visit to the Republic of Chile and held a series of productive engagements with key public and private sector stakeholders to advance bilateral trade, investment, and innovation cooperation.

The delegation met with senior officials of InvestChile-including Mr. Salvatore Di Giovanni, Head of Investment Promotion, Mr.Juan Pablo Candia , Head of corporate management and Mr. Juan Pablo Garnica, Head of Global Services & Digital Economy.Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral investment flows, fostering digital economy partnerships, and exploring opportunities for Pakistani IT companies in Chile.

A constructive meeting was also held with Mr. Felipe Henríquez Palma, Director General for Multilateral Economic Affairs at SUBREI (Undersecretariat for International Economic Relations), under Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions centered on strengthening institutional collaboration between SUBREI and Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, while exploring new avenues to expand bilateral trade.

At ProChile, Chile’s export promotion agency, both sides discussed joint trade promotion initiatives and greater business-to-business engagement. An invitation to participate in TDAP’s 4th International FoodAg Exhibition 2026 in Karachi was extended, with a request to disseminate the information among leading Chilean food importers and companies.

The visit also included a highly encouraging meeting with Ms. Javiera Araneda de la Sotta, CEO of Start-Up Chile, one of Latin America’s leading startup accelerators. Discussions explored collaboration with Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem, including institutions such as Ignite, and the potential for a South-South innovation gateway. Start-Up Chile expressed strong interest in engaging with Pakistan’s growing technology and entrepreneurship landscape.

The delegation also engaged with the Office of the National Coordinator for the Pacific Alliance, discussing avenues for closer economic cooperation and Pakistan’s engagement with the regional bloc. In addition, a meeting with officials of the Asia Pacific Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile provided an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral relations and reaffirm the shared commitment of both countries to further strengthen Pakistan–Chile cooperation across political, economic, and commercial spheres.

These engagements reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to deepening economic relations with Chile and unlocking new opportunities in trade, investment, digital services, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
