Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting at the embassy the roundtable discussion “Ukraine in Focus: Academic Diplomacy and International Relations,” organized in collaboration with the Embajada de Ucrania en la Argentina / Посольство України в Аргентині
The conversation reaffirmed a fundamental point: diplomacy is not conducted solely between governments. Universities, museums, archives, cultural organizations, researchers, and diaspora communities also play an essential role in building international ties, preserving memory, and defending democratic values.
In a context marked by disinformation and attempts to distort history, it is especially important to reflect on how academic and cultural diplomacy, research, and personal testimonies can strengthen international solidarity and build lasting bridges between Argentina, Canada, and Ukraine.
Our sincere thanks to the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina for its outstanding collaboration in organizing this event, as well as to H.E. Yurii Klymenko, Ambassador of Ukraine, for joining us and sharing his reflections.
Many thanks as well to our distinguished guests:
🔹 Dr. Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, Director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta.
🔹 Dr. Maryna Hrymych, Senior Researcher at the Ivan Honchar Museum in Kyiv, writer, ethnographer, and cultural manager.
Their valuable contributions enriched a thoughtful discussion on memory, culture, resilience, and international cooperation.
We also thank everyone who contributed to the debate from their professional perspectives. We hope this dialogue will serve as the starting point for new initiatives and collaborations among Argentine, Canadian, and Ukrainian institutions. 🇦🇷🇨🇦🇺🇦
