🌍 On June 12, 2024, Human Right 2 Water (HR2W) held its fourth Annual Global Meeting (AGM), bringing together members, partners, and stakeholders to review the past year’s achievements and outline our strategy for 2024-2026. The meeting highlighted the critical role of water as a fundamental human right in promoting global peace and stability amid increasing environmental and geopolitical challenges.
Board President, Dhesigen Naidoo, opened the AGM by discussing global conflicts, the rise of “multipolarism,” and alarming climate changes, emphasizing the importance of water in addressing these issues. 🌊
During the AGM, the Vice Chair of our Expert Committee, Professor Martha Davis, also updated us on current HR2W thematic research focusing on menstrual health management (MHM). This area highlights significant gender inequalities, and we are developing new methodologies for mapping existing law and policy on this topic. A special thanks to members who presented highlights of the important work they do in their organisations: Women for Water Partnership, Brazilian Senate for Human Rights and Citizenship RENOVARSE baños y duchas and Kaleem Muhammad Sindhu
We are excited to announce the re-election of Callum Clench (IWRA - International Water Resources Association), Andrés Felipe Sánchez Peña, (Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA)), Dr Anand Chiplunkar (formerly Asian Development Bank (ADB)), Dominique Gatel (Veolia), Mamohloding Maahlo-Tlhagale (Water Research Commission), Mercedes Castro García, (ONG Agualimpia) and Olcay Unver (Arizona State University), and the election of Dr. Sylvia Rivera Valle and Diana Iskreva to our Board. Dhesigne Naidoo will remain on the Board in the position of Former President. A huge thank you to Mariet Verhoef-Cohen, Alexandra Knezovich, and Rashid Mbaziira for their contributions over the past two years. 🙏

🌍 El 12 de junio de 2024, Human Right 2 Water (HR2W) celebró su cuarta Reunión Global Anual (AGM), que reunió a miembros, socios y partes interesadas para revisar los logros del año pasado y esbozar nuestra estrategia para 2024-2026. En la reunión se destacó el papel fundamental del agua como derecho humano fundamental en la promoción de la paz y la estabilidad mundiales en medio de los crecientes desafíos ambientales y geopolíticos.
El presidente de la Junta, Dhesigen Naidoo, abrió la AGM discutiendo los conflictos globales, el aumento del "multipolarismo" y los alarmantes cambios climáticos, enfatizando la importancia del agua para abordar estos problemas. 🌊
Durante la Asamblea General, la vicepresidenta de nuestro Comité de Expertos, la profesora Martha Davis, también nos puso al día sobre la investigación temática actual de HR2W centrada en la gestión de la salud menstrual (MHM). Esta área pone de relieve importantes desigualdades de género, y estamos desarrollando nuevas metodologías para mapear las leyes y políticas existentes sobre este tema. Un agradecimiento especial a los miembros que presentaron los aspectos más destacados del importante trabajo que realizan en sus organizaciones: Women for Water Partnership, el Senado de Derechos Humanos y Ciudadanía de Brasil RENOVARSE baños y duchas y Kaleem Muhammad Sindhu
