When European democracy is being threatened, what can we do to save it?
3️⃣ reasons why you deserve better :
🟣 in 13 European countries like Italy🇮🇹, Greece🇬🇷 and Belgium🇧🇪, if you are 18, you can vote but you cannot become a candidate 🤯 All people eligible to vote should have the right to run!
🟣 your vote should matter the same, whether you’re in Germany🇩🇪 or Portugal🇵🇹 or Romania🇷🇴. In 14 European countries, the national law establishes an electoral threshold ranging from 1,8% to a whopping 5%: that’s millions of votes like yours being excluded 😱
🟣 voting should not be as difficult as winning 🥇at the Olympics! No matter where you live, if you have a permanent address or not, if you are abroad, voting should be easy, quick and accessible to everyone.
Volt's Member of the European Parliament, Damian Boeselager, worked tirelessly to negotiate a new deal that brings new energy into European 🇪🇺 elections. Now it’s up to the European Parliament to vote on this new deal in early May.
